Patch 1.4 whatever, tbh does any care???

Some groups have noticed the testing of a new map ?Road to Jalalabad? being run on our test servers. This map will be included in our next patch release and is not part of a new booster pack. Some of the items on the change list for this next step are:

* Reversion: Allowing unlocks on unranked servers
* Fix/Reversion: We fixed the issue preventing mod teams from running multiple game modes in one map list.
* Tuning: We have lowered the number of players needed to start a ranked game.
* Tuning: We have made some modifications to the vehicle drop feature introduced in 1.3. These changes should reduce the overall impact of "cartillery" on game play.
* Crash Fix: We have located and fixed a crash connected to 1.3.

These are only a small portion of the fixes being worked on for our next step. We would also like to announce that we will be holding an Open Beta in early July for this next patch. We will have public servers hosted, Beta files available on mirror sites, and specific threads for feedback during this Beta period hosted on the EA forums.

What are you talking about?

For the past year there has been unlocks on unranked servers but the last patch reversed that for some strange reason. It's just going back the way it should be.

For the past year i have never seen an unlocked weapon on any match server whilst i know it's only an option file there is nothing in the above article to suggest they will keep it that way.It's EA afterall ...

Allowing or blocking unlocks is a server side option that any server admin can enable. Personally unless there is a civil war within tig, and I doubt it, we will never enable unlocks on anything but a ranked server. Any clan wanting to play clan matches with unlocks need help.

Why do you think that fairy. In BFV we had the option of the m16 or m15 carbine but in BF2 now ya have only one choice as assualt. Choice is not a bad thing, I know some people who think the ak is the best gun in the game.
Most of the things in this patch seem good to me. I like the lowering the requirements for server ranking makes it easier to get yer server busy.

Why would unlocks be bad in clan matches?

Atm the g36E has to be my favorite weapon.

Would be nice to be able to use it in clan matches.

Fantastic, now all they need to do is fine the ones conneced to all the other patches ^_^

Have they finally realised that the testers they have employed are well, ****e.Shall be interesting to see them listening to everyone when they find countless number of bugs

Because those that had 0 ranked points would have no unlocks and be at a disadvantage compared to those that had loads of unlocks.


The server setting allows unlocks for those that have earned them but not all unlocks for everyone regardless of points.
There used to be a way though to change a line in your HOSTS file to fool BF2 into thinking that you had earned all unlocks and this system was being used by warez BF2 servers.

So people could download BF2 and play on an unranked server that didn't check for cd-keys *and* gave you all unlocks. The 1.3 patch fixed that but took the serverside setting to allow earned unlocks on unranked servers.

I couldn't care less if they broke it by mistake or not. The fact that they're changing it back the way it was is important as I play most of my BF2 on unranked servers (not clan matches).

Hooray Ponster you see what I am saying. In clan matches everything should be equal bar skill and tactics. If one side has a load of guys who have all the unlocks and the other side dont then what sort of match is that going to be.

I thought that if there was unlocks on an unranked server for a clanwar then everyone playing could choose any of the weapons .

Yeah, you're only allowed use the unlocks you've earned on an unranked server (or at least that's the way it used to be)

I'd have to agree with Shadow the G36E is class, but I quite like the MG36 for a bit of RDR (rounds down range) even if the latest patch seems to have cabbaged it a bit

btw, it was reported yesterday that 1.4 patch will come with a free map

you just know it will be one long stretch of road where the tank ho's amoung us can "relieve" themselfs and call themselfs "l33t" cause they stand in the right place and spam the e key.

i hope to god they come up with a better delevery method this time as you know the offical webside goes down everytime they patch its enough to give you a pain in the balls.

Infantry only, long due IMO, I know you can say infantry only on a server, but it just takes 1 gobsheen in a tank to feck it up.

This is probably EAs idea of "we want you to buy 2142, see where nice people we give you a free map, all hail us"

Wonder what the ranked server minimum players have been reduced to.
