How can I get photoshop on my computer? I went on to the website but I'm not too sure what I'm supposed to be looking for. Is there a free version I can download?

There is a trial edition you can download.

    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/

Click on Try Now in the top right of the page under "Next Steps". You have to register with Adobe.com, but that is pretty simple to do.

It expires after 30 days, and I'm not sure if it has some features turned off

If you want a good free image program try the open source project "GNU Image Manipulation Program" (known as the GIMP).

    http://www.gimp.org/windows/

The interface can take a bit of getting used to if you are used to Windows. If it is a problem for you try a fork of the GIMP project known as GIMPShop, designed to look and act more like PhotoShop

I recommend Serif PhotoPlus6 as a great way to get into Photo Manipulation. I use it on my Improvers Course. While a little old at this stage it is possible to upgrade to a later version for a fee.

The great thing about it is that you are using a lot of the same tools and techniques which photoshop uses. So if you decide to stump up the cash at a later stage you won't be starting from scratch.

I've written a few tutorials around cloning, layers, creating a panorama etc for it (the supplied pdf manual is turgid and difficult to deciper). If you send me an email I'll mail on the pdf's to you.

it should work out cheaper to get an older version of photoshop and then buy the upgrade to CS2,

Its very easy to get photoshop for free. But of course its highly illegal and I couldn't possible tell you how to do it.

I bought a version of photoshop ,photoshop elements for 90 euro
it came with a book that tells you how to use it.

If you are only starting off your probably better off with it.
