    Hi Folks,
I'm heading down from Antrim tomorrow for the Duke Special concert in Whelan's, and want to know - what's the best way to get to Parnell Street from the north of the city, by car?

    Cheers,
    S.

You know Whelan's isn't on Parnell Street and that Parnell Street is on the northside anyway?

    (Just checking)

If your coming down the north road go straight through finglas up by glasnevin cemetry, keep going till you come to des kellys at hearts corner.
swing a left down the withworth road by the canal and train tracks then a right at end of withworth road onto dorset street.

swing a left off dorset street when you get to kavanaghs pub (aka temple bar pub) and follow the road down by temple street hospital and take a right. That leaves you on parnell street (fibbers end)

as the user above says, parnell street is no where near whealans, so if its wexford street your looking for then follow my instructions as far as dorset street but turn left at tom mayes pub and down onto O'Connell street. drive straight down across the bridge and around by trinity college turning rightonto Dame street. Drive down dame street past the central bank and turn left onto georges street. drive up georges street and keep going till it meets wexford street and whealans will be on your right.

"The" Whelans is on Aungier street / one of the continuations of Georges St before the canal...

From O'Connell bridge (heading south) go toward trinity - hook off to right with Bank of Ireland /former house of parliament on your right. Third left is Georges street. Keep going for 5+ traffic lights... Before the canal on your right.

Have fun on the way back if you notice you have crossed the canal already

if your coming from the north, come down the m1.

follow it thorugh swords, santry, drumcondra.
after you come across the canal,[theres a river, then the canal]
take the left onto gardiner street, drive about 1/2 mile and youll see the hill 16 pub on your left,
take the next right at the lights and that s parnell st

saw this guy support mundy in vicar st, pretty good and he came out into the crowd to watch mundy gig.

but it is whelans on wexford st, not parnell st. clown bags directions are best but pretty sure you can't drive down o'connell street from that direction anymore so maybe he can change them..

    Folks, thanks for the replies!
Yeah I know where Whelan's is - I'm staying in Parnell St though, so need to drop the bags off etc when we arrive down, so I'm going to need to go there first.

    Those are the best instructions.

You can't turn onto O'Connell st from Dorset st unless you're in a bus or taxi :)

You don't have to go down O'Connell st anyway... its easier to get to Parnell st if you go down Gardiner st. and swing a right.

If you are coming from the Cork road side, proceed in past the McDonalds drive through and go through 2 sets of traffic lights and then you are on Parnell Street.

Oh Wait its Parnell Street in Dublin. Well why the fcuk dont you ask this in the Dublin Forum and not the Afterhours.

Boo Hoo... why don't you go post in the "I've got a Huge Chip on My Shoulder" thread

Theres more to boards that just Dublin people.

Whats the point in having a Dublin thread if all the dubs just use the after hours thread to ask solely Dublin related questions.

    Wrong.

You can't turn onto O'Connell Street from Dorest Street unless your in a wormhole.

Fredrick Street North, Parnell Square East and Cavendish Row link Dorset Street with O'Connell Street (upper).
