What is the story with some people !?!? ... are they incapable of having some manners.

I was at a work dinner last night, and the guy beside me had some pealing skin on his arm ( from sunburn) which he decided to pick at and then ate  , i thought it was naaaaaaaasty, and felt physically ill. We were sitting down to have a meal when this happened, and might add didnt end.

It just really enphisizes (sp ?) in my opinion that some people just dont have any manners, do you think as a country some people just really dont give a dam anymore ?!

That was pretty awful alright!! Some people are so ignorant! He probably didn't realise anybody was looking at him, like all those people you pass in cars picking their noses (who also think nobody can see them). Disgusting!

I dislike people who file their nails on the train or pick them as the noise of the emory board is annoying and its not hygenic when you are trying to eat your sandwich/bun/bar etc.

I've seen the peeling skin scenario but never an instance where it was eaten.

Obviously the food wasn't nice in the place you were eating. Poor guy, had to resort to eating his own flesh.

Nobody else seemed to have noticed, he was sitting beside me so it was obviously a lot more clearer, and to be honest i dont think he really had any quams about hiding it, until i was looking in his direction.. it was just totally gross..

I did say it to one of the other girls later on in the night, but she didnt notice it earlier, however did agree that it was discusting.

Just think of all the skin you inhale every day off other people next time you're eating ;)

Since it was a work dinner and he was beside you, you know his name...so time to name & shame!
Have a male colleague scrawl graffiti in the staff gent's toilets...something along the lines of "[Name] is a freak" or perhaps "[Name] is an autocannibal and doesn't care who knows" or maybe "Hungry? Call [name] on 087 XXXXXXX"

This was at the begining of the night so had to sit there for a few hours, try to eat a meal, and watch him do this every now and again.

    Oh my god,are you serious?

He's not over reacting,he's under reacting by just sitting there and saying/doing nothing!

I would have asked him very politely to stop,if he didnt depending on whose company i was in,i would be tempted to hit him, probably resist the temptation but i would tell him what i thought of him in no uncertain terms and would have left immediately, letting the management know excatly why i left!

That's definitely gross, but I am surprised you didn't say anything, I'd have politely asked him if he could stop or made a smart a** comment about tasting like chicken.

On the topic of manners though the one thing really annoying me is people not standing back to let you off the DART before they get on, happens more often getting off on a train heading south. Don't southsiders realise there's more room when people get off the train so they'll get on and comfortable more quckly if they stand back for 5 seconds?

I didnt say anything cause i dont think it would have gone down very well with work if i had gone and embarressed the guy and pointing out how grose he was been.

I remember a time (what a time) when I was going ice-skating with some friends and the skates were werid on my feet. Anyway, when I took them off at the end of the session they had peeled a big stretch of skin off both my insoles. Anyway, I didn't want to let the skin just hang there so I peeled them all the way off and then ate them both in front of my friends and the passing crowd. Juicey little buggers.

But that was done to freak people out, and not while at the dinner table, so it's cool.

Pah! Skin eating! I know a guy who, while talking to you, will shove his hand down the front of his trousers, give himself a good ole scratch and then what??!?!

    Sniff his fingers! :D

No you couldnt possibly broach this subject with a smile. You must frown at him. Punch him in the face and kick him in the ribs when he is on the ground.
Thats the only way to disipline these "skin eaters" :D

I'm noticing an increasing number of guys touching themselves in public... especially teenagers.

They need to repeat Married with Children and catch these Al Bundy's early...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,417 ✭✭✭Archeron

Any chance its more absent mindedness than a lack of manners? What is this persons manners like normally? Dont forget, a lot of people who pick their noses arent even consciously aware that they are doing it. Admittedly, eating skin is really gross (and very funny).

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,339 ✭✭✭✭tman

    that's gross:eek:
i'd only ever eat my scabs/flaky skin/bogies/pus from sores in the privacy of my own home

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,312 ✭✭✭pbsuxok1znja4r

In fairness, having already peeled his skin, the cleanest and most hygenic way for him to dispose of it was probably to eat it. (Hygenic for others, not necessarily him). It's a pretty selfless guy that would eat his own skin out of regard for other people's hygene. Fair play to the bloke.

    <_<

    >_>

I think im traumatised after reading the original post - sick and wrong!! If I was in a restaurant and a fella at the next table started doing that Id call the waiter and ask to move to a different table! If thats what he does in public god knows what he gets up to at home....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 340 ✭✭The Song Thrush

I don't see what the big fuss is, it's only skin. If he was biting his nails, I don't think he would've got the same reaction, despite the difference being minimal. And at least he ate his skin rather than flicking it in any random direction.
