    Afternoon,

I'm travelling to Cambridge/London at the end of July and I'm looking for a hotel in the city centre (London). Nothing too out of this world in terms of price. Something reasonably priced for what is on offer and local to all the usual sights and attractions would be good.

    Just looking for some recommendations.

    Thanks,

    CJ

CJ try - www.hotels.com - the later you leave it the better chance of getting a good 4 or 5 star hotel at knock down price.

i am heading to London tomorrow for the weekend, staying in the Regent Palace Hotel in Piccadilly Circus... I have heard mixed reviews about the hotel, some say its a kip, others say its ok, but it is really cheap for somewhere so central... I will post again after this weekend and let you know what its like....:)

hi there, just back from london... stayed in the regent palace hotel as i mentioned in my last post... it was in a great location in Piccadilly Circus, within walking distance of Leiscter Square, Covent Garden, Soho etc...... The hotel itself looks really nice from the outside, really big, but it is in need of a good make over inside...Saying that, although the rooms were so basic, they were fine for the money we paid(no air conditioning in the rooms though, and it was soo warm there this weekend)... i would reccommend you book a room with an ensuite included or else you will be sharing bathroom facilities with other guests.... if you are alright with basic accommodation and dont expect anything flashy, this hotel should be ok for you....

We're staying in the Holiday Inn Kensington Forum this weekend which I got on Priceline for about €100 per night room only. Will post a report when we get back - although it's in a perfect location for us from LHR (Piccadilly Line - Gloucester Road tube station)

Stayed in St Giles hotel just off oxford street. Cheap enough - Nice rooms - Gym and Swimming Pool but that was open to the public aswell. all in all, if you're not going to be staying in the hotel that much it was perfect as a "base" as it was right in the middle of everything!
