Well, if you're after sports, that rules out the "Freesat" Very few sports channels of much use.

Personally, if I were in an area covered by NTL cable, I'd probably go for them. They carry Setanta Sports as a standard channel (extra on Sky), also carry Channel 4, and of course, there is then the option of broadband. Also with NTL, you can connect other TV points in the house with less hassle than with Sky (generally speaking).

The few things on Sky that are not on NTL, is stuff like interactive services - Sky Sports Active, BBCi, etc - and of course their PVR, Sky+.

    I believe that ITV2, 3 & 4 are not availalble from NTL.

Yes, I believe you're right. NTL does carry BBC Three and Four, but not itv2, itv3 or itv4.

These of course, can be got with a FTA satellite system. It must be noted that the Sky "Freesat" system will not be installed here by Sky, as the FTV cards used are only available to those in UK. What you'd likely get is a FTA system, which would exclude Ch4, five and Sky 3.

Of course, there are ways and means around this, though you'll still not have Sports.

I would take SKY any day before NTL

    anybody care to argue ?

Lets not have that argument here.

If you want free to air, or have no cable, no argument satellite wins. Cable is subscription only, Sky you can cancel and still have the free channels.

If you want broadband, sport TV and pay TV generally or are not allowed a dish, and have digital cable, then cable wins.

If you are any other category it is complex.

So lets not go down this debate again which was done to death with no conclusion.
