You're going to have to ring around yourself and find out, try carole nash, First Ireland, FBD (maybe), I think I'm with hibernerion.

Have a look at the insurance sticky and let us know how you get on.

    1/. I doubt it.

    2/. Is it a 2nd car?

3/. Will it be garaged nightly?

4/. Think about 10% customs duty and 21% VAT.

    5/. I doubt it.

Most companies, as far as I know require you to be 25. Norton will insure you once you're 23. I'm 23 and I got a quote of €212 for a 1300 Beetle. You must have a regular daily driver insured and there's a mileage limit. Their number is 01-2862592.

i tought there was no tax when bringing in a classic from outside the e.u well a small vrt tax and some customs costs of about 1000 euro?
does vat at 21 % apply?

If you know anything about this. please let me know

does anyone drive one of these in the republic?

    thanks again for your replies

I brought in a Citroen Sm from the states, I had to pay duty on the purchase price, Vat on the purchase price and duty. You also get to pay custom clearance charges and I got caught for a days port charge as well. Oh and the €50 vrt as well. From inside the eu it is just the VRT.

There is loads of corvettes in the republic, infact there was three for sale a month or two ago on some Irish site, carzone or something, not sure if any were stingrays though. Not bad money either, about 12 K if I remember rightly.
