Yeah I've played against him in some bluesquare specific tourneys, so he's playing through there. I thought he was good at first but I re assessed after seeing him make some very fishy moves.

He fancies himself as a bit of a pro, bit of a fish tbh

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,467 ✭✭✭Norwich Fan Rob

he made a horrendous play in a blue sq tourney i was in on sunday, cant remember exactly what it was, just remember pegging him as a fish because of it, also wondered who he was.

Well I bet whoever he is cant wait to reveal his identity now!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

Yeah i'd say he'll come straight out and reveal himself after being labelled a fish.

Well, if I was blahpoker I'd try to swallow my pride and snap up this opportunity to get some genuine and useful criticisms on my game from boards.ie.

    :)

You don't normally get away with sticking up a random thread asking anybody who knows your game to criticise it in general for you.

(P.S. If anybody wants to criticise my game for me, I'd appreciate it!)

That makes sense then always seems to get deep in the evening rebuys any time he plays.

I tracked him down there yesterday and had a look at him playing in a 5/10 game. I don't really play cash too much but if I did he'd be on my buddy list.

You donk off too many chips too easily to ollyk1. Everyone else has to win your chips fighting tooth and nail but not Olly. I actually think you both want to nail eachother so bad calling and winning with Ace high or something to get into eachothers head!.
Its vise versa too. I can never seem to win chips easily off olly but he's no problem calling and mucking against you. Youre both determined to win a huge pot off the other calling with a terrible but winning hand at showdown!.
I think you two are secretly at war?.

    Do you agree?

Assuming I have the right guy... (DM from "dat game on de telly"?) then I can offer one criticism... Your speech play sucks! There are times when you'd be better off not saying anything.

As an impatient short stack in the Fitz one evening, I raised in MP with AK. I got a caller and you raised all-in. At first your raise was welcome but you started to speech it up and I folded to your Aces.

Other than that, you've done better than I have so I can make no more criticisms.

You gotta give action to get action rounders!! :D:p

And what's this secretly at war business? I've never hid the fact I'm trying to win all Brian's money ;) Isn't that what this game is about?:p

Brian knows what his one main poker leak is as does anyone who's ever played with him. Consistency. If he played at his consistent best he'd be crushing most of the games around town. End Of Story.

My problems are many and varied but I like to delude myself that I can break even (eventually like :p ) and I can live with that, it's not like I'm playing with the kids dinner money. I don't play online as breaking even (after the rake) online is no fun and I refuse to play for 3-4 hours a night at home to win/earn $10-$15 an hour onetabling. If anyone wants to point out some of my other glaringly obvious bad plays or costly tendancies feel free but I probably won't change my spots.....:(

Okay, box of kleenex at ready, bottle of Vodka waiting in the wings, please feel free (sound effects of can of worms being opened) to critisise me over my play.

Here are a few I know im Sh*t at.

Being too optimistic and believing that my two marginal hole cards are still good to a raise and call before me.

Not paying enough attention at the table.

Having a good look around the room to see whos playing, whos at what table, (oh look hour gone and quarter of my stack????)

Not leading out enough with hands, and being a calling station (trying hard to stop this, very hard, unfortunately it is what you might call a "Work in Progress")

Come on lads, and lassies opinions please, and be as honest and critical as you want.

I'm good at raising every hand preflop and check-folding postflop in live cash games. Arguably the best.

I'm also exceedingly good at slowplaying two pair or trips on a board with loads of draws and then paying off when the draw hits.

You make too many final tables, make more mistakes earlier on in the tourney thus forcing yourself to play "all in or fold" poker in the middle stages, this will hinder your chance of makin it deep :D

Jokin m8, your quite the regular at the FT's, you always play a solid game when ive seen you, and have knocked me out at the business end quite a few times...grrrr :p

Ive personally played a lot with you online.
The only think that comes to my mind is that your game lacks some aggression.
I think you have a very solid game and its more on the safe side of solid IMO.
If you tone up the aggression just a tad I think you will invite more action when you want it and you will also discourage it when you don’t want it and the important thing is that the level of action will be on your terms.

I'm gonna have to start using [Sarcasm][/Sarcasm] tags again!

I've played a good bit with you online Dave and a few times live, once being a memorable 7am cash game at the Irish Open a few months ago. That was one funny table.

Dave Ive never played you online but have logged a fair bit of table time live with you in the last while, so any thing I can contribute is only relevant to live play.

Your game seems good to me I allways end up in pots out of position against you that end up in me having to make decisions. Only thing that strikes me about your game is that sometimes you are too trappy for your own good when you have a real hand.

Who thinks PPPspecial is a rock? you should see him call his whole stack off with KJoff deep into tournaments :D

Also I never played blahpoker so have no idea if he is any good or not but he dropped in to the table I was at and was talking about the regency so I assume he is a poster on here.

All the Dublin clubs will be holding them, I know the Fitz usually have theirs about 4-6 weeks beforehand. Outside of this I don't know.

I only played at your table for a couple of hours a while back smurph but here is what I noted, your overall play is fine, you dont get too out of line and that is a good way to play.

The only thing that I noticed was lacking was post flop aggresion when you have half a hand, e.g. a couple of times you were in pots to the flop and it was checked around to you in position and you rarely took a shot at it without a hand even though no one showed any strength, also when your raise or bet was called on the flop you generally didnt fire again on the turn and checked to showdown a couple of times to be shown hands that probably would have folded to a second barrell. Like I said based on only a few hours beside you and I thought you played well even the hands I outlined above my default have a bet line is not necessarilly the best play just the way I would play.
