They'd never get Murray v Burns over here , that's probably going to be a British title eliminater at S.Featerweight . They had Burns v Docherty and Murray v Mitchell as eliminaters but Docherty pulled out cause he's moving up in weight(and would have lost) and Mitchell pulled out because Frank Warren has to overprotect his fighters(and he would have lost) . Also Stephen Foster jnr will be fighting Andy Morris for the British(or for Foster's WBU) title around then .

Bernard Dunne V Michael Hunter(European Super Bantamweight title)
John Duddy V Jim Rock(Irish middleweight title)
I would have had McBride V Kenna but McBride is fighting Lyakhovich
Colin kenna V James Clancy(Irish heavyweight title)
Oisin Fagan V Andrew Murray(irish Light-Welterweight title , unless McDonagh vacates the Lighweight before then)
Paul Hyland V Paul Griffin( eliminater for Irish Featherweight title)
Martin Lindsay V Kevin O'Hara(subject to Lindsay having 2 more fights by then)(Irish featherweight title)
    Francis Barret V Femi Fehintola
and finally the return of Darren Corbett:D V Mark Clancy(for the Irish Cruiserweight title)

Also with the possibility of Patrick Hyland and Stephen Haughain on the bill if more fights are needed .

    OISIN FAGAN vs ANDREW MURRAY

I would like to see in October time and hopefully if Murray wins, a possible fight in late November/ Early December time to boost his Euro rankings for Ireland's most promising up and coming fighter of 2008........

Well Mc Closkey, Lee, Duddy and the like were all known about before 2008.

Murray on the other hand was unknown before his fight with Gorman in December. Than he really kicked off with his early couple of fights in 2008.

Murray this time last year wasn't anywhere near the profile that he is now.

You Big Ears and a few others would have known him, but not everyone whatsoever.........

That's true he has come into the spotlight a lot more these past 6 months and has started to fight the better journeymen . He's nearely at the stage where he'll be headlining a bill , I'd say Murray v Fagan could be the main fight on a Brian Peters promotion sometime in the not too distant future .

Its time now against Mc Donagh for Murray to really kick on and get to be a household name, that I know he's capable of being.

His progress will be interesting to say the least.

Also very excitied to see how the boys do in the Olympics and more so after that, if or when they turn pro. If any of them medal at the Olympics, Peters will be wetting himself as they'll be big draws all over Ireland....... Interesting times ahead indeed.......

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Forget Duddy et al, Sutherland could be the next Irish man to win a world title.

His power - and his mouth - are made for the pro game. He will be filling the Point in two years time, if he can somehow medal in beijing and boost his profile.

Your thoughts Big Ears, bwalsh etc?

It's hard sometimes to judge how an amateur will turn to the pro game, however I do agree with you . Sutherland has a perfect style for the pro game and is extremely powerful for an amateur . I'd be shocked if Darren doesn't make it to at least European level .

A lot of people don't like Sutherland and to be honest I can understand why . He's got that Alex Arthur ability of pissing people off because they seem like an ass without actually being an ass . But once he is succesful he shouldn't have too much trouble building a fan place .

I would favour Andy Lee to win a World title over him, or at least quicker than him as despite Andy's current glaring flaws I would actually give him a great chance(possibly favour him) over someone like Felix Sturm(current WBA champ) .

I'm surprised I haven't seen more discussion on this forum about Sutherland's potential as a pro as no matter what his result in the Olympics is he's turning pro afterwards . Although it is interesting to note the European Championships come only 2 months after the Olympics so some fighters may decide to hang on a little longer this time before turning pro .

Darren is 26 so they won't be able to fanny about with him forever, but providing he is put into the right fights and brings his power, aggression and general skill from his amateur career into the pros he could be a force to be reckoned with .

Personally, i think he could do well(European level) but i'd still put Lee ahead of him,our only big chance of a world title, Duddy-meh! after that we have lots of honest journeymen who will give some entertainment and maybe win europeans or get title shots!

also-some great amateurs dont make good pro's, sutherlands attitude might suit the pro's but i dont know about his style.

A lot of the best amateurs have pure technical skill's as opposed to 12x3 rounds attacking style, thats why i'd fancy myself more as a pro than as an amateur! i like to take 1 to land 3!!

His style is very like that of a pro , he is very flat footed for an amateur and really sits down on his shots(something rarely seen in good amateurs) . He is aggressive and squares up at times when he has some against the ropes and will try and fire hurtful combinations when he has guys there .

To me he's simply perfect for the pros and bar Islam Timurziev I can't think of an Olympic level boxer at the moment who's style would be better suited to the pros .

He really seems to rub people up the wrong way although to be fair I don't think he sets out to do that. I think if he can come out with a more humble attitude people will take to him. He clearly has great power but I'm not too sure about his chin. It will be fun seeing him progress through the pros but with his style I can't see him medalling at the olypmics.
