Hey guys, I need to get my epiphone les paul rewired. Does anyone know a good place in Dublin or Wexford where I can get this done without getting reamed. I think it's just something dodgy around the jack but I'm not sure.

Why not give it a go yourself? You'll only need a soldering-iron. There's a few good sites that show you everything you need to know. I built and rewired the guitar I have without (too) much hassle. Other than that I think Musicians, Inc or MusicMaker will do rewires, but as you mentioned, they might ream you.

Well I'm not really sure what's wrong with it and I don't want to mess it up. I might pop in to music maker and see what there like. If not I'll google some instructions and give it a go.

The wiring on a Les Paul is very simple. I built a guitar that has almost identical wiring except I have stacked pots. You'll find a million and one wiring diagrams and guides online for the LP. Give it a go yourself just practice a bit beforehand. If you need any help I'd say a good few people on here could help or if you want you can PM me.

Thanks guys. I'm just worried that since I don't know quite what's wrong with it that I might **** it up. But I might give it a go

What is the problem with it?

Every so often I get nothing coming out of the amp or sometimes if I'm playing with distortion, etc. the signal seems like it doesn't have enough power to be distorted and comes out of the amp sounding clean. I think there is something wrong somewhere around the jack plug and it's messing with the signal.

When I was getting my new pickups installed into my Epi SG I brought it into Musician Inc and they did it for me. Well, they outsourced it to the Guitar Workshop but I dealt with the guys in Musician Inc. Cost me like €20 I *think* I'll have a look at the receipt when I get home.

You probably just need to resolder the two wires back onto the input jack. 2 minute job.

Great! Whenever I get my gear to dublin! I need to bring up 2 big combo amps, a bass and a guitar and I have nowhere to store them until I move. Which is soon hopefully.
