It's not parkour....and most of the guys who think they are doing parkour are not.

The original idea of parkour was to be able to traverse the obstacles of modern society with a minimum of fuss and effort, and with an "animalistic" ease.

Parkour is not about somersaults and all the stuff..... don't confuse the original concept of parkour with the spin off that is freerunning.

    Well put Dragan.

Sorry to have been so pendantic!!!!

I just see Parkour as being the original incarnation, with the inherant philosophy that it involves and the process of self learning and self development that was the basis in the first place.

"Modern society wears me down, throws obstacles in my way and makes life hard. Maybe if I can overcome the physical I can overcome the mental?"

Freerunning is effectively the same thing in that is will look similar to most people, only it is more movement for movements sake and is not so caught up on the philosophy which is an intergral part of Parkour.

He may be able to run away from the cops but if he doesn't wear gloves he could find himself on the wrong side of a tetanus shot soon.

Is there REALLY need for a freerunning forum though ? The ammount of forums on boards these days is getting really really silly.

Is there any reason not to cater for everybody though? Obviously the resources are there, the primary idea for boards is to provide a ground for everybody's interests to be discussed, if it can handle all the forums, why not have them there?

They can be catered for without having a seperate forum. Noones going to be able to keep up with them all and thats why Ive posted this in the wrong place, because I wasnt even aware there was a free running forum. There should only be new forums if there is a need for them in my opinion. Realistically, how many new threads about freerunning is there going to be in say, a year ? ....and 99% of them will most likely be links to videos.
