    Hi,

I needed to reinstall windows XP, so I done the usaul re-install but as I was entering the code the power went, so I turned the machine back on when I could but now each time I try to do the re-install it keeps poping back to the set-up but it does not give me an option of entering the authenticate code and then it throws an error. Is there anyway I can start the re-install from the start again?

    Many thanks.

Insert the XP Cd. Reboot PC and get it to boot from the CD. Start the install process as normal. It will detect the existing windows installation and ask if you wish to repair or replace it. I'd replace it and see if that works.

If that fails, get a bootdisk from bootdisk.com and fdisk to remove the partitions on the HD. Then redo the install process as normal.

Cool irlrobins that worked out. Is the drivers from the previous install located anywhere its just that I needed to reinstall the modem and I am not sure how I can do such a thing?

If you formated HD then you lost everything. If you know the modem model go to manufacturers website and download drivers from there.

Well I am still able to read all the old files of the previous user(My Documents) but maybe thats not enough. I think I will have to open up the machine and take a look.

You could always run Unknown Devices which will show you the model without opening up.
