Xbox 360 on wireless lan query

K we are going to go wireless at the house for our pc's and laptop,
we'll have 3 pc's one box running smoothwall which will also handle
dhcp. wireless from an access point probably with mac filtering enabled
and all those good thing to keep the bad men out.

my question: the xbox is connected to my pc monitor so it is inches away from my pc, because my pc will have a wireless card it will free if the NIC
on that pc, can i share the internet connection between my pc and xbox360 using the crossover cable, if so what would be involved?
I dont want to buy a wireless adaptor fro the 360 unless i really have to and even if i did im not sure it would work with mac filtering as a usb adaptor (unless im mistaken) would not have a mac address.

Is anyone using a similar set up.

think it shoud work, you could try the home network wizard in XP and I think select other PC's connect to the internet through this PC and then go into the router scan for attached devices and you should see the XBox's mac address add it to the safe list. try it and see if it works

    Snake ;)

    Yeah it will work fine.

The only issue would be possible high pings, this is how I first setup my xbox at home (before Live! was available here) and it allows you to use some of the alternatives to Microsofts Live! service.

So in conclusion, it will work, but watch out for bad pings.

I tried and tried but couldn't get it to work. Used every diff combination of ips and dns etc but wouldn't work. I'm just gona buy the adapter once IBB come out to fix my net on Monday. Joke of a service lately... only works 2 out of 7days a week. And with 5kb/s downloads!! Same problem last year then they came out and back up to 200kb/s. Some adjustments to the antenna maybe.

If you get yours working let me know. See we automatically issue ips in the form of 10.0.1.1 etc using dhcp and think thats why it won't work

Set it up over the weekend, took a bit of playing about , in the end i set my wireless connection to allow other computers to connect through it, on the xbox i tried assigning ip's and a few other things but in the end all it took was for me to reset the network settings to factory defaults and it worked a treat, havent actually played online with it yet so can't tell ye what pings are like
