This isn't strictly speaking about horse racing but it is a problem with a bet I had yesterday and hopefully someone posting here will know a bit about it!

    This was my Patent bet:

    Armagh - Fermanagh to draw
    Wexford - Offaly to draw
    Mexico - Iran to draw.

Of course Mexico slaughtered Iran so nothing coming back on that! And I was paid on the Armagh Fermanagh draw but nothing for the Wexford Offaly game... According to RTE it was a draw in the 70th minute and the winning point was scored in injury time and according to Paddy Powers GAA betting rules "All bets will be settled on 60/70 minutes play respectively at the prices advertised. The term '60/70 minutes play' refers to the period of play which included time added by the match officials for stoppages, but not scheduled extra time."

So what do you think?? Do I have a case???

injury time is the time added by the match officials for stoppage....

the extra time they are talking about refers to when a match is a draw at full time and an extra period is played to seperate the teams (usually happens when there has already been a draw)..

O.K, but if the match was a draw in the 70th minute then that is the result Paddy Power pay or don't pay out on, isn't it????

thats the answer there isn't it ??

same applies to soccer bets - "in 90 minutes play" also includes the 3 or 4 minutes injury time added to each half.

Is 70 minutes the moment of the game when 70 minutes is on the clock?

of course, but the 60/70 minutes in gambling terms in different..

as explained, in betting, the term '70 minutes play' refers to the period of play which included time added by the match officials for stoppages

(the only reason they use the 70minutes term is in case the match goes into extra time... although most agree that the terminology used in match betting is confusing and should be revised)

    Thanks Nick!

Still won a small bit on the bet anyway as the Fermanagh Armagh draw was 9-1! :D

It's just a double aswell would have been even better!
