Sky dish install options?

    Hi,

Had the installation engineer out yesterday, and he said I can't get sky because the dish can't get line of sight to the satellite :( I live in a row of semi-detached houses, and my eejit neighbour's chimney is the way - the only way to get a view of the satellite is to either mount it on the wall halfway down the garden (but then there is issues with cable resistance), or to do a chimney mount, but he can't do a chimney mount due to liability issues :( The gable end of my house is facing the wrong way to see the satellite. He said I could pay a private installer to do a chimney mount, but if anything went wrong it would be my problem. He said he could come back with a "gutter mount bracket" but that only had a 50/50 chance of working, and would cost me €50. I'm only in this house for another year or so, considiring a large plant pot filled with concrete - any other options? I'm in the north of Drogheda, if that makes a difference.

    Thanks

    Ewan

The cable can run 50m without a booster or 150m with one.

The installers sky use are sub contractors they work on a comission basis
your house/job sounds like it will take a bit of time and effort to install a dish on You should contact Independant installer he will do a signal test around your house and give you a quote for everything.
Stay away from the chimney your looking for a set of T and K Brackets {18inch to 24 inch depands on the distance out past the facia} and 8ft of 1inch and quarter galvinized pole to mount your dish on.
