Don't get me wrong, I love opeth, but I really dont think ithey will be so impressive live. I was going to go, about to buy a ticket, but then realised, Hey... will their stuff be so good live...? I decided no.

If Lamentations is anything to go by they'd be a religious experience live, and some classics weren't played at that show, like Advent. I'm going, but there's another thread about this gig, might want to use it instead of starting new ones.

There were songs from other albums played that night but for contractual reasons they could only include stuff from Blackwater Park and later on the DVD. I think they played Demon of the Fall at that gig.

I've seen them twice now and I can honestly say that you've never heard Opeth until you've heard them live. Think those CDs are great? They're just the warm up! One of the best live bands out there.

Have you talked to anyeone who has seen them live, or seen any live recordings? They appear to be a great live band. I'll be there on 12th June. You should go as well.

Bought my ticket today. Can't wait to see them, even if nobody goes with me. Is it sad going to a gig alone?

Does anyone know who the guest bands are?

They are amazing live, you'd be mad to miss them.. I've seen the twice too & they are breath taking - definitely not to be missed!

with so many gigs I'm only looking forward to one gig at a time - but yeah I'm really looking forward to the live Opeth experience, missed them in Whelans, and think Vicar St will suit them really well.......

yeah, they came back on for an encore that wasnt on the DVD, i think they played 2 other songs. cant think of what the first one was, but Demon of the Fall was the closer, as it often is. i'd love to see them open with The Moor.

I seen Opeth before in 04,but i didn't know it was them and i had never heard them before so i couldn't judge if they were good or not

I'm not too sure, but I think the other song played was When. Either way, if this video of When is anything to go by, I'd say we're in for a treat.

Looking forward to this, havent seen them live but going by the DVD it should be great.
Irish band Primordial are supporting and if anyone doesnt know them they should definitely get "The Gathering Wilderness". I think their music should be very well suited to Opeth. I have "Storm Before Calm" too but didnt like it as much.

Just seeing who from here is going tomorrow. Any ideas about the setlist? I got this one from the show they played in Israel 2months ago, its good, but would like some more old material.
    Ghost of Perdition
    White Cluster
    The Amen Corner
    The Baying of the Hounds
    Closure
    Under the Weeping Moon
    The Grand Conjuration
    The Drapery Falls
    ---
    Deliverance
    Demon of the Fall

Its still great though, I'd pay €32 just to see Deliverance live alone. The support band is Primordial. Heres an mp3 of a song off their newest album, yes its legal, I got it off their label's site http://www.metalblade.com but you've to go through some hassle to download it, so I rapidshare'd it; http://rapidshare.de/files/22781349/Primordial-The_Gathering_Wilderness-01-01-The_Golden_Spiral.mp3.html

I'm going to start requesting that people use spoiler tags over setlists from recent gigs. I'll do up a charter soon enough.

Anyways, Opeth. Quite looking forward to tomorrow's gig.

Saw 'em in the shelter and when they played whelans, pretty dull affair live but the kids are crazy for the opeth nowadays so their enthusiasm might lift things lol

Lads, if anyone wants to have a few pints beforehand, there'll be a few of us in The Porterhouse.

I'll be there, probably Porterhousing beforehand too.

Cant wait for this gig. not looking forward to the heat in there though. lol

may get a few cans in in the pav cause it is outdoors and nice and cheap. :D

That's looking like a pretty pissy setlist to be honest. :( Sure there are a few beauties there, but where's my Advent? Where's my Leper Affinity? If those aren't played, David will not be a happy boy.

Saw them in the Shelter, and in Whelans. Incredible! Can't wait for this time 24 hours! ;)

I'm so there. Woohoo! They rock live. Saw them in Birmingham in September. They started with Deliverance and everyone went mental. Such a good gig!

I was just there at Metallica, the pain I am feeling at this instant in time is incredible.

Hopefully I'll be all healed by tomorrow and ready for Opeth \m/

I hope they play a good bit of Deliverence stuff tomorrow. Also, as has been mentioned, I wonder what the atmosphere will be like, considering that half their stuff is light, and half their stuff is really heavy :\ .

My neck and my leg is still fuckered from Metallica yesterday.

Do you reckon this'll be a jumpy-jump/mosh gig or will I have to reside on the bench?
