Looking to buy a laptop this summer, from dell, i guess. Also interested in knowing about special offers from other stores.

Any idea when dell's sales start?

Dell don't really do sales. They do promotions. The promotion changes every 3-5 weeks approx.

Just keep a watch on the dell site every once in a while, they normally have promotions where they offer free shipping, extra memory or a free upgrade of some sort.

Sometimes smaller computer stores can give value which is just as good as Dell. I recently bought a fujitsu siemens laptop for a friend with similar specs to the Dell equivalent for the same price as the dell. A few extras came free, like an optical mouse, cables, etc. Most importantly, I know that if I need support, there is easy access to backup and there won't be long phonecalls or quibbles over whether or not the warranty is in or out.

Moreover, I'm supporting local jobs! Anyway, the point is just to shop around. If Dell have the best deal, then go for it.

Dell have the best deal.........until you want to add extra ram, an extra hard drive and watch the price rise DRAMATICALLY! Check out komplett.ie for the best in good deals ;)

komplett have a fairly crap selection of laptops at completely average prices to be fair

Pc World might actually surprise you with some good deals, I know I have been surprised a few times with their decent offerings.

although Dell still probably the best, as long as you buy one of their packages and leave as it is, otherwise they will rape you with appalling upgrade prices
