KoRn were scheduled to play at the RDS Arena in Dublin on the mainstage before headliners Metallica. Fans who have purchased tickets can apply for a refund by contacting Aiken Promotions immediately but refunds will be very unlikely.

    Ah good old Aiken.

"KORN have cancelled their June 11 appearance in Dublin, Ireland for the Download Festival 2006, promoters Aiken Promotions have announced.

The cancellation comes after KORN singer Jonathan Davis was admitted to a hospital in London for undisclosed reasons, forcing him to miss the band's appearance at U.K.'s Download Festival, taking place today at Donington Park.

KORN were scheduled to play at the RDS Arena in Dublin before headliners METALLICA.

KORN performed a shortened 30-minute set on the main stage of Day 2 of the Download Festival with SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor filling in on vocals, according to Kerrang! Radio." Ah well im doing my J.c. So im not disappointed.Id say there's something seriously wrong John Davis

I reckon they'll move Stone Sour or Alice in Chains to the Main Stage and shift everyone in the tent down the timetable.

Alice in chains are on main stage in A7X place while A7X move up to second on bill

So youre telling me that at 9am on the morning of the gig the main support act are not playing, I didnt want to see Korn anyway, but this is a ****ing outrage! i mean this is a serious kick in the balls after the Motley Crue incident with Aiken, the rolling stones incident, and the fact that Korn fans will be gutted....many of whom are prob in the line getting pit passes right now, and i dont suppose ur average north side security guard will have been informed of the cancellation or they will have put signs up for people to see...no, thats right, its ireland we're talking about

DO you think there is anychance of me getting a refund for the ticket??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 958 ✭✭✭porn_star

well I'm not going, but I sure as **** hope people that are going just for korn do find out before the gig, as I'm sure some won't.
But you can't necessarily blame Aiken, there's obviously something seriously wrong with Davis if they pulled out, so I hope everyone thinks of someones actual health before they start whining about it.

yup, korn is the main reason why I'm going but as annoying as it is, you just can't blame someone for being in hospital!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,969 ✭✭✭christophicus

O yeah i dont blame them, I am really pissed of but you cant blame the man for being sick.

I don't know why people think they'd have any chance of getting a refund for a support band pulling out of a gig at the last minute, it just wouldn't make sense.........go anyway and enjoy the day out........there should still be some good music on, at least get the value out of the ticket......

wow corey taylor filling in for jonathon now thats something i'd actually want to see

Certainly this is beyond the control of the band or Aiken. These things happen even on short notice.

The least Aiken could do is offer refunds to people who were genuinely interested in going to see Korn.

When a support act is axed generally you are never entitled to a refund. Bill "subject to change" and so on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 238 ✭✭Music4life

Id say theres something seriosly wrong with john davis. It would have been class to see all the other singers perform with korn. U never know another act might come in and take korns place.Ive rang lots of people going to the concert last night telling them korn arent playing so the word will spread

I think the reason why refunds are so unlikely is cos, I'm sure some people would of bought tickets months ago and for some reason or another couldn't make it anyways and haven't sold there ticket on, so they're be able to use this as an excuse.
but i say just go anyways, I'm jealous, I'm love to be ****ing seeing AIC today.

#18 - Like me. 2 tickets in Kildare with a withdrawl for one and a "cant afford it" for the other. They're the €64.50 face value tickets .
Pity touting isn't permitted here, cos Id dearly love to shift 'em in the next couple of hours for a half decent offer, and Id even be able to bring em as far as Tallaght to be collected if required.... ;)

i hope he's ok, but im not exactly annoyed at the fact i dont have to sit through Korn

Shame about KoRn...as much as I would have liked to see them, I have already seen them twice.
It would have been cool to see them with other singers filling the bill but **** it, Alice in Chains were amazing. Well better off.

In that situation I would have pretended not to speak good english, and just slowly walked away, or i would have told him some lie and just left....i mean the truth would hurt far more:(

KORN frontman Jonathan Davis has issued a statement regarding the illness which has forced him to miss the band's Download festival appearance on Saturday (June 10) and has caused the group to cancel the gigs in Dublin, Ireland (June 11) and Amsterdam, Holland (June 13). Davis' statement reads as follows:

"I am writing this to thank everyone who called, or e-mailed me the past few days. Believe me, they have been some of the scariest days of my life.

"This is the short version of what happened: I started getting these wierd bruises all over my body about two weeks ago. I was getting very weak after the shows so I saw a doctor in London on Friday. He took some blood tests and when the results came in they rushed me to the hospital.

"It turned out I have ITP [Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura]. It's too hard to spell, but basically it's a blood infection where because of an allergic reaction, my blood platelets — the stuff my bone marrow produces to help my blood clot — were really low. I mean, way low. Most humans have between 140 and 400 in their cells. I had 5... no joke... FIVE. If I continued to headbang on stage I could have had a brain hemorrhage and dropped dead on the spot.

"My doctors ordered me to remain at the hospital until they could get my blood in some healthy shape.

"I want to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at The London Clinic, all the singers who performed with the band at the Donington festival: Corey from SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR, Dez from DEVILDRIVER, Jesse from 10 YEARS, Benji from SKINDRED, Shadows from AVENGED SEVENFOLD, and Matt from TRIVIUM. I want to thank my band and crew for all their love and support, my loving family and friends and most of all the fans, the best fans in the world.

"The doctors are telling me that each day I've been here in hospital my platelet count has been going up and I should be healthy to play in a few weeks. The doctors have cleared me to walk around a bit but I am unable to perform a show or travel right now. They will know more in a day or two but I want everyone to know that we will do our very best to come back soon to play dates we are unable to play this tour."

Kinda good in a way that korn didn't play, it would have been ridiculous to have aic playing in a circus tent, while korn was on the main stage.

That's pretty serious. Wish 'im a speedy recovery.

I was talking to the a few groups of people at the festival and no one had heard anything of the Korn cancellation. There was on a little sign hung on the festival gates about the axe, but obviously the word had not spread enough.

I'd say quite a few people were bemused when Metallica came onstage instead of Korn.
