I like the 2nd and last shot, in the first series you posted it'd be nicer if you didn't cut her head of imo :D

    Excellent shots nevertheless, good job!

I think they are excellent shots which show great expertise. How did you get into this type of photography?

    very good shots

the top ones i presume was to focus on the shoes and the model's upper body,
almost bordering on a fetish type of shot - which is ok too i guess :)

    nevertheless great shots

Thanks guys, the reason why i chopped her head off was to make the image more commercial looking. I have alot of images of her and i wanted it to be more fetish opposed to fashion. Same with third, maybe more alternative/fetish than fashion.

Thanks jools, i have done some modelling myself (for last year) - just as a hobby, but i've had the chance to do some travelling. After months and months i was getting increasingly frustrated that photographers just weren't taking pictures that i liked. They were good, but not necessarily composed the way i wanted them to be. So i always had this itch :). I borrowed a canon 10d for that shoot and did hair makeup and styling but i've recently bought a Nikon D200. I'm only a beginner so i'm not sure what my forte is - i certainly don't want to be an all rounder, i'd rather excel and be amazing at one aspect of photography whether it be fashion, portrait, alternative, art, fantasy etc. I can see myself keeping at the high fashion though as it's definitely something i can see myself doing well at. The beauty about being a model for the last year is that, i know alot of models that are willing to help me out on my portfolio. There are alot of photographers out there that want to make it at fashion photography - the first step is to find a model (your girlfriend, friend, wife.. ) and to rent a studio for a couple of hours.

I think the pics are really good. You have an eye for that style, though as you say, it's a very competitive business.

The only comment I would make about the first set is that the subject, shoes etc, appear dark and to lack detail. If we are supposed to be drawn to them then I think that is a problem. It may be my monitor, though I think it is calibrated properly. Maybe a graduated darkening aroung the fringes would draw the eye more to the centre And a light focused on the product to produce some key light reflections.

Still, I think with a bit of perseverence you definitely could work in the business. Having the ability to do the makeup and your own experience as a model are great plusses. Good luck with it!!

Thanks a mil. Yep definitely one of the flaws of that picture. I should have bounced a reflector underneath the shoes to get more details.
