The French seem to have a lot of time to make cool aviation videos. This one's an Alphajet working as an agressor to a Mirage 2000.

I'll hunt around for some of the others.

Crisis, thats cool, how do you think they filmed that?

Only on dial-up here so I didn't bother checking out the video the OP linked to but if you want to see some pretty cool flying do a Google search for a film called 'Chevaliers Du Ciel' or 'Sky Fighters', to give it it's English title. It's supposed to be a kind of French version of 'Top Gun' or something along those lines. Check out some of the trailers for it, if you can find them. I've only seen the trailers but, judging from them alone, it looks like there's some awesome flying in this film, including a great dogfight scene between two Mirages and another one which hides under an Airbus airliner to mask it's radar signature or something. And there's another really cool aerial shot of a flight of Mirages flying low-level over the Arc de Triomphe (sp?) in Paris.

Seems those French love playing about in their jets! ;):D

I have to say, about the only thing I can think of that's probably more fun than rolling around in my tank is flying military aircraft.

    Swiss: Mirage III, F-5, F/A-18.

French: F-1, Mirage 2000. Watch for the bit where they look to be about car-high shooting down the highway...

I swear this has the Arabic Knight Rider theme tune.

I found this vid on you tube (http://youtube.com/watch?v=kgagGKWfuS0&search=fighter%20pilot) but got the much better quality version here http://www.petrastech.com/simon/videos/plane.wmv
The camera work is simply amazing, and the flying by the pilots is insane, wish i could fly one of those toys...

p.s. Madonna's song "Push" accompanying the vid is great..

Fantastic, just about the best aviation short I've ever seen. The camera work is superb.

I have to say though, the best thing I ever saw was a segment I saw a few years ago at some airshow. It was a glider doing some serious acrobatics such as loop the loops etc. At times it was flying extremely close and fast to the ground only to pull back up again.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this? I'd love to see it again.

Can anybody shed any light on how they filmed this  , they could only be using another jet?

    Ain't nothing on a Flanker.

Yeah, jet following or flying alongside. Only way they could get some of those angles. Helicoptor hovering wouldn't be able to keep pace.
Some shots do look like they're shot from a ground location as well.

The Flanker is the superior plane, but the French video is much cooler.

Found out that this vid was scenes taken from the film "Les Chevaliers Du Ciel" (thanks Aidan_Dunne). Here is some info on how it was filmed http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0421974/
Just finished obtaining a copy of the film, and there is a very cool scene at start with a Mirage 2000 flying underneath an airliner, no special effects!!

That video of the Mirage's flying through the Alps is great Manic_Moran, especially the bit where it shows the pilot flying very close over the summit of what looks like the Matterhorn... is there a better way to see the Alps...

WOW  .Incredible video guys.does anyone know if its possible to get something like these videos on DVD etc.? It doesnt nessecarily have to be inflight videos but preferably videos of jets doing manovers.Tom Cruise is not an option:D
I really look forward to the Salthill airshow every year(weather permitting) as its practically my back garden. The day before the jets usually practice, its incredible.
So anyway anyone got any ideas on DVDs id appreciate it. Thanks.

Great thread guys, keep it up. A couple more at microsofts HD Content Showcase, the 'Fighter Pilot' clip has a nice simulated guns only dogfight.
