I am not sure if it will be as busy as it was last year. It got off to a slightly slower start this year than it did last year. Still it is pretty soon to be having a Trop storm now.. looks like it has shifted also to a western Florida peninsula hit.

The NHC say that they expect a 'very active' season. http://www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories2006/s2634.htm

Forecast to become a hurricane later today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,811 ✭✭✭✭billy the squid

That would go with the hurricane warning that has been issued for the west coast of the florida peninsula. I am expecting some video streams to come online now that it is forcast to become a hurricane, If i find them I will post them here.

Nah, by the time it gets here, and that is if it gets here it will be nothing more than a rainy day.

Most of the time, the forcast track veers to the north and the storm becomes extratropical.

Anyways, Alberto made landfall in the panhandle today and is currently located in Georgia. I would imagine the next advisory at 10am will have it somewhere in South Carolina as a Tropical Depression.

    Short but sweet.

Moving on however, and Earthman's holiday to St Lucia will be a wet one with two tropical waves heading his way.
A VIGOROUS TROPICAL WAVE IS PRODUCING NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND A FEW
THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE EASTERN CARIBBEAN SEA... MUCH OF THE LESSER
ANTILLES... AND ADJACENT ATLANTIC WATERS. ALTHOUGH ENVIRONMENTAL
CONDITIONS ARE UNFAVORABLE FOR DEVELOPMENT OF A TROPICAL CYCLONE...
AN INCREASE IN THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY IS EXPECTED TONIGHT AND
WEDNESDAY THAT COULD BRING BRIEF PERIODS OF HEAVY RAINFALL AND
STRONG GUSTY WINDS TO THE LEEWARD ISLANDS... PUERTO RICO... AND
HISPANIOLA AS THE WAVE MOVES WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT 20 TO 25 MPH.

ANOTHER TROPICAL WAVE LOCATED ABOUT 1350 MILES EAST OF THE SOUTHERN
WINDWARD ISLANDS IS MOVING WESTWARD AT 15 TO 20 MPH. THIS SYSTEM
REMAINS BROAD AND DISORGANIZED... AND FURTHER DEVELOPMENT IS NOT
    EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.

Possible candidates for Beryl and Chris? we will just have to wait and see.

Forcasts on the tropical waves do not predict tropical cyclone formation, however expect to see plenty of rain in those parts of the world.
