Which American/Canadian city would you recommend?

Adjusting my RTW ticket to spend some time in an American/Canadian city on the final stop home. It will be a week max and I was looking for inspiration. I have been to NYC, Boston, Miami and Philadelphia in the past and just love NYC - the temptation is always to go back there. So, pull me from the predictable and sell some other destinations! Any hints or tips about things to do or see would be greatly appreciated!

Vancouver in Canada, San Francisco in USA.

    Two pretty incredible cities.

If you going to the states do what tom says San Francisco is increadble. Totally diffrent to the rest of the US.

If you going to Canada then do go to Toronto. I went on a year working holiday tp Toronto and I do miss it. It has a buzz that has to be seen. Ottawa is only 4 hours by train from Toronto which is also worth a look for a day trip. Y ou can also get day trips to Niagra Falls which is only tow hours outside of Toronto and costs about $30 canadian.

At the same place NY is probaly the greatest place on the planet so my vote would be to go there!

Or else possibly Vegas (if thats your thing)

Another vote for Niagara Falls :)

I live in Toronto and I've got to say if you've never been here, then we're def. worth checking out. There's tons of live music, shopping, sights to see, etc. And Niagara Falls, while cool, is only fun for one day and is only a 45 minute drive from downtown Toronto. Guaranteed, whatever you're into, you'll find something fun about Toronto.

Vote Toronto here as well, just don't go in Feb like I did. My nads have only just thawed out and that was over 2 years ago :D

Don't listen to those on about Toronto, Montreal is the only spot to visit in Canada, great people great nightlife, it's like being in Paris only the cars are North American instead of Renaults

San Francisco gets my vote... I was there last October/November - the Hallowe'en parade down the Castro is something well worth a look. A week should give you plenty of time to take in all the tourist sites - trip accross the Golden Gate bridge to Saulsilito, tour of the bay, Alcatraz. Plus your very close to San Jose, and the Napa Valley for day trips.
Going back in a couple of weeks - can't wait!!!! :D

I second San Francisco and Vancouver - I've been to many many North American cities over the years and those two might be the most beautiful.

Plus if you go to Montreal, you might be surrounded by people speaking French! That is as horrific as being in France itself.... :)
