Socket Am2

    Hows it going, im designing me new system and im just about to start ordering, i want to go for the new socket am2 motherboards but i can find any coolers for socket am2, can any1 help me out on this?

    Is it the same socket as the normal 939 or is it different?

    Any help would be much apreciated...

    I'm not sure if the heatsinks will differ much but the one that comes with the CPU should tie you over until you can get some answers ;)

    Any S939 HSF that mounts using the standard method with "clips" will work with an AM2 board..........

    Isnt AM2 slower then 939 due to the high latency memory and the fact that the AMD 64 architecture was designed to run with low latency modules?? By the way AM2 uses a different mounting mechanism to 939.

    Things do seem to be very slightly slower with DDR2 RAM right now, but we *should* benefit from the faster clock speed of this RAM with the faster CPUs.
