Thinking about heading to china to teach english for a year. Getting the TEFL and all that but just planing the route.

After my exploit's interrailing was thinking about heading there by Train? It's working out about the same as a flight.

Anyone have any experience's of doing this?? or the Trans-Siberia route into beijing??

Not sure how you plan on getting train from Ireland to England (!) but from there you can feasibly train it to Beijing. Check out www.seat61.com for all you need to know about train travel around the world, including transiberian.

I did the TransMongolian recently from Moscow through Mongolia to Beijing and got most of my information from seat61. You can:

A: Get train tickets when you arrive in Moscow but you need a fairly good stab at Russian, cos most have no English, and depending on what time of year you plan on travelling, availability may be limited. (Cheapest Method)

B: Get train tickets through a Russian agency (I used G&R and were very good) (Next cheapest)

    or

C: Get train tickets through Western agency like STA Travel or Vodka Train, but this is by far the most expensive, bout 4 times as expensive as Method B.
