A favourites chain?

Since I'm really bored and the forum seems fairly quiet these days, I thought we could do one of the flickr group things but keep it on the boards here.

It's easy enough, just pick your favourite of the images by the last person in the list. It's nice to say something about why you like it too, to make the thread interesting. If you post and you don't have a link to your gallery in your sig then stick one in your post so the next person can choose from yours.

I'm going to start with a picture that just blew me away, and I keep going back to look at it again and again just now. It's so whimsical and kind of creepy too. It's one of the stilt people at the maritime festival by Chitywest:

I like it because I'm a big fan of the misty highlights thing. I'm not usually fond of bw - or sepia, but it just works perfectly here. I think the detail in the mask is great, surrounded by all the white glowiness, and there's some lovely detail in the feathers too. It's fab!

I like this shot of autumn leaves by elven because the colours and leaf forms together with the light and shade seem to signify that period of the year.

That misty gradient is really great, makes the image so atmospheric and moody. I love the composition as well, all those winding lines that end in vertical lines, very nicely done. That stop sign is very well placed to break any symmetry that your eye tries to find in the shot. Great work

I really really like this, the water reminds me of hiking up the wicklow mountains when was younger on a hot summers day, the relections off the water are really beautiful, the don't glare, its almost like stars floating on the water

If you look at your photo page in flickr and the web address has all the numbers and @N00 in it instead of your name just do this:

Go to the 'Account Page' (the link is at the bottom of the screen under the 'My Account' heading) and choose 'screen name' from the right, and put your nick in there. The name you put in there doesn't have to be the same as your login name.

That will make your link to your pictures a lot more easily recognisable!

I think melekalikimaka was missed there in the confusion with links not working so I'll fill that in now.

I have always had a liking for this one that Dimy took some time ago. It looks like a picture that you would see in a photography year book. The scale of the diving boards make the Poolbeg towers look as fragile as matchsticks. The form and tint add to the delapidation of the diving board too.

The reason I chose this - are that its very elegant and simple (looking) & I think photos that look that simple are usually the hardest to take.

Its very uncluttered and captured very well, the level of detail, contrast and composition are top notch. It wouldnt look out of place in a professional publication. Plus - despite the fact that it wasnt taken there it reminds me of keel bay and good times : )

I have always loved this shot, since I first saw it. Its a really great shot that gives a very lonely impression of the subject. The lighting is also spot on with the right amount of him in the shadows and the right amount out! Really great shot!

It's a strange shot, and really caught my eye, with the sunburst and the crux, and the nicely captured central subject. But there's a lot of good stuff there, and chosing one was tricky

My Amserdam set is the only items I have in the public domain as my poor little camera is sick

I think this is an excellent shot from Jools, I really like the framing with the tree leaves/branches... and the sky is so threatening.... very nice church as well.
