Have you tried the Health & Safety Authority (www.hsa.ie[/url, FAS or the union that represent builders ?

If you're worried about the exam yourself it's an absolute doddle, you have to actually do the entire course though, boring as it is.

Seriously it's the easiest exam you ever do, I bet most people could pass it without doing the course at all. It's mostly just common sense stuff.

Ya the exam is a bit of a joke. You would want to be really, really, really stupid to get anywhere near failing it. Tis Simple. Dont worry about looking at the paper.

Its the biggest money making bull**** scam this country has ever come up with. Anyone who can't pass WITHOUT doing the course first sholdn't be on a building site. I did it two years ago. I'm on different sites a few times a week and Ive never once been asked for it!!!

My examiner actually emphasised the correct answer on each multiple choice question. But seriously, even if he hadn't everyone would have passed regardless, including the two 16 years olds who had never actually seen a building site.

Despite my grumbling at having to pay and go, I actually think the safe pass is a good idea in two ways

    1) for the 16 year olds straight out of school
    2) for every one else, as its a reminder every few years that people die from not being careful.
