i am trying to connect my xbox 360 to my pc via the on board spdif (coax) connection on my mobo.

the only thing i am getting is a clicking noise

there a number of options on the xbox

dolby stereo and dolby digital 5.1.

if i select the stereo option i can hear the sound perfectly but its only in stereo and i am looking for 5.1

is there anything i am missing ? the pc detects the input ok and says something about ac3

i have tried installing an ac3 filter/codec but to no avail.

any suggestios are much appriciated, thanks

If there are drivers, try changing some parameters to give higher latency/ lower quality...

When I connected my POD XT (guitar pedal) via USB and used the ASIO drivers there was a clicking noise every few seconds as if they cabale was dodgy.......

So I tried loads of different cables and It didnt help......

So I went snooping around in the driver parameters and adjust a slider to giver more latency it fixed it!!

I dont know if will work in your case but its worth a shot!
