eBay Selling questions

Guys I'd like some advice from people who sell from ebay.

If you want to list somthing but put a high reserve, if it doesn't sell are you still charged? Is it worth using the "Buy it now" feature? What is the best way to get the most for your product (I'm selling a PDA).

I know some people set up another acount and put in a few fake bids, is this dodgey or can it be worthwhile?

Also, I preferably want someone to buy it from the UK (so I can benefit form the sterling rate) - do I just log in under ebay.co.uk and do it normally from there, or what?

    Any advise appreciated.
    Thanks

If your item doesn't sell you're still charged an insertion fee and any other fees you incurred when you listed your item. See:

Depends if you want to make a quick sale or if you're willing to sell at a certain price. If you're doing an auction with a BIN, you should note that the BIN option disappears with the first bid unless you put a reserve. In the case of a reserve, the BIN option dissappears when the reserve is met.

Isn't that the €1,000,000 question. One tip is to start and end your auction in the evening or at a time when you feel the most potential buyers may be surfing the net.

This is very dodgy and against eBay policy. You could have your auctions ended, possibly with the fees not credited and/or have your account suspended.

If you list your item following those steps, your item will be listed on the UK site and in pounds sterling. If that's what you want, go for it.

OK just listed it. The action is set for 7 days. Ending at 11pm next tuesday - do you think that is a good time? CAn you change it, to maybe 9pm?

7 days is too long really. 3 Days is better. You won't get any action till the last few hours anyway.

Really! but won;t 7 days give more time for people to see it & watch it

Reserves are a pet peeve of mine. I figure that if someone is not willing to sell at below a certain price, then they should start the bidding at that price and hope you receive bids beyond that.

You can't change the end time once you've listed an item. Also, if you're going to listed with a BIN price, you should require immediate payment. A BIN listing to a Nigerian scammer is like a big juicy steak to a dog. If you require immediate payment, the listing won't end until the buyer sends payment via PayPal.

I'd have to agree with that.

Totally agree with this, I reckon reserve pricing just pi$$es people off.

I'm kinda hoping that low start price will encourage the bidding...

Shall I just change the starting price to what I want for it, or perhaps just under the reserve...
