i dunno slayer are the only band worth seeing for me....i will probably hit it though as i will be at Muse anyways...add Mastodon to the line up and they have a deal. Wasn't impressed in In Flames at all when they toured with Sepultura

so what was Rock Am Ring like ????
who did you see etc ....

I don't actually think Mastodon would add much to that lineup at all, wasn't overly impressed with them last year..........I'm looking forward to seeing Lamb of God though, savage band, and I'd be interested in seeing if COB can change my mind live.......

and where did you hear this wonderful rumour? considering a) the gig was only confirmed this morning by MCD and b) 8000 metal heads would be doing well to sell this gig out as we are meant to be pre-occupied with 6/6/6 related stuff (being evil and all that)

Some great bands In Flames and Opeth had fantastic sets,
i love the bloodhound gang so that was cool,
deftones, AIC and G'n'R were all fairly ****e :(
Metallica were supposed to of been amazing but in flames were playin so **** them,
Highlight was meeting steve Harris in the airport on the way home :D

    Can't bleedin' wait :D

Anyone pick up the new Slayer track on iTunes yet? Have to wait til I get home.

Got my tickets today. It appears that CoB are way down the bill which sucks cos they deserve to be right up there near the top as opposed to In Flames.

That lineup looks fantastic. I don't know Thine Eyes Blind but there's no stinkers elsewhere. Great stuff.

    one word

I am so there! COB cant ****ing wait! This nearly makes up for me missing Opeth

will have to nab a ticket in town tomorrow. pity In Flames & LoG are on ahead of CoB.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,405 ✭✭✭gizmo

Children Of Bodom and Lamb Of God sold it for me. I havn't gotten into Slayer properly yet (I'm ashamed to say) but I have plenty of time I guess. :D

nice lineup but as we speak i'm chatting to a friend about how i'm all disillusioned with the run-of-the-millness of metal these days and why i probably wont be bothered with unholy alliance :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,552 ✭✭✭Steoob

woohoo best gig ever to be in ireland i reckon... me happy gettin my ticket tomorrow... i'd normally be like YESSSSS WHOOOOHOOO but i was told about 6 hours ago so ive kinda dumbed down...

i'll probably be avoiding the pits in this one.. some psycho stabbers'll be about i'd say,... ah **** it

on a side note what did ye think of cult?

go to slayer.net... i was the whole day refreshing it and hearing the same 10 second clip... but either use a new browser or else clear your cache and the site should load completely new and you'll hear it all

    EDIT: your welcome :p

it should be a kick ass gig, but if you look at the bands playin in a modern day context, Slayer havent had a good album since 1990, Lamb of God are metalcore, tho decent metalcore. In Flames have really fallen by the wayside over their last few releases, the new album is utterly terrible. as for Children of Bodom, i havent heard the new album, tho apparently its below par as well, tho ill judge that for myself. cant confess to know Thine Eyes Bleed at all well, but maybe what i brought up was along the lines of what your friend was saying!

    cheers man,

really lookin forward to seeing Opeth next Monday.......AIC I really want to see, but the dissapointment of them being in a packed tent in this sort of weather has already hit me, I'll be happy to see them just to cross of the bands I've yet to see/missed somehow list............

what a year this is for gigs though......

How the **** are lamb of god metal core, i dont remember any gay whiney singing breakdowns, Your right about inflames new stuff being below par but remember the jester race days, i mean youd still go to a metallica gig right?
As for COB, the new album isnt as good as hate crew deathroll but its still pretty dam cool.

Ill go to this for Children of Bodom and Slayer

It's weird. If you do a search on ticketmaster for standing tickets it says sold out but if you search for best available it brings up standing tickets!

Lamb Of God are metalcore? lol?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 456 ✭✭Arucard

my knowledge of LoG isnt complete, but everything i've heard is very thrashy metalcore, not bad tho.
the majority of what i've heard lies somewhere between metalcore and melodic metal, but if anyone wants to point out the other aspects of LoG, and which albums/songs represent such qualities, i'll give em a listen
i have no qualms with being proved wrong ;)

EDIT: downloaded some more LoG. *smacks self*
