I don't have one but did a bit of research on them when the firm I work for came out with them. Seems a bit of a damp squib so far. Firstly you need to buy special discs with the laser "scribable" film on the flip side. These are still a good few times more expensive than comparable non-lightscribe discs. Secondly, current generation drives take about 45 mins to produce a print with any sort of detail on it. Plain text you may do in 10 - 15 mins but if you want graphics or photos you're in for a wait.

I'm gonna wait and see how/if things improve.

i have a lightscribe drive. it cost me £30 and it is also a dual layer dvd re/writer. the disks cost £5 for 10 blank dvd's in a spindle. it takes my computer 15 minuites to fully engrave a disk with full imagry. in my eyes, its brilliant

yeah, thay arent bad quality really. the ones i have have like a creamy yellow background and the engraving is black, and the different dimensions in an image are made through the use of different shades of grey. but overall the image itself is very very clear and its very easy to use

I had Lightscribe for quite a while I wouldn't say it's all it is cracked up to be but it does have it uses - some of the issues may have been resolved since I last used it but I don't think they have been.

Sepia tone discs only (think a dark shade of gold)

The discs are thumb print magnets and the image cab be ruined with constant handling.

Slow time to create the image for some you need to do a pass with best or two passes for best to get the contrast otherwise it is too light. You can see some examples at this link.

Honestly I would forgo Lightscribe and buy a printer which prints to discs the image quality is far higher with none of the above problems.
