Take a rest for a moment. Let the tension go. Karac Kennedy said that, and he hasn’t followed his own advice for years. He’s the front man for “Ireland’s hardest-working band”, Kildare trio Stone Ocean. Complemented by drummer Alan Walsh and bassist Glenn Cummins, Stone Ocean hit the scene hard in 2002, quickly making their mark with their cleverly crafted, fast-paced stage show. True to the rock ethic that performing live is elemental to a great band, Stone Ocean have been hard at work playing literally hundreds of shows a around Ireland, and the UK, building a genuine following along the way.

During a performance at the Oxegen Festival, the trio sparked the interest of US indie label Ghost Train Records. Within a couple of months the band were signed and brought over to record their debut album in New York’s prestigious Club House Studios with acclaimed producer Paul Murphy, following up with mastering pro Chris Athens (Cold Play, Limp Bizkit) and design artist Sean Evans (Maroon5, Aerosmith, AC/DC).

Crediting their influences as “Anything that makes you wanna move”, Stone Ocean fit the tradition. “Good News” — a pop rock song if there ever was one, rhythmic, infectious — or the laid back "Time and the Money", a few solid minutes of chill-out, make harmony for a tougher, sleazier “Rival Crush”. Song by song, this album captures the high polish and the hard squall that are the essence of Stone Ocean.

"Stone Ocean" was released on Friday April 28th, and was immediately play listed by almost all commercial Irish Radio stations with top alternative DJ Alison Curtis naming the band in her top new bands of 2006

The album is available to buy from all good record stores in Ireland and online from the bands myspace profile
