ok this has very little to do with the paranormal... :D
However people here might have a better idea having more experience with castles. Also if i can get a haunted castle it would be great as i could investigate too:D

Anyway planning family reunion for 2008 so no rush right now. Approx 15 or more from the US coming here so was hoping to rent a castle for about a week.
I have looked online so i have a list of some... im looking for a less commercial idea though. Im hoping to pay between 3000 to 5000 for the castle for the week. There are some i can find at this price but are usually a little small.
Oh accomadation does not have to be IN the castle... if there are apartments/cottages in the demesne as part of the rental that would be fine.
I think KatieK... your or your hubby mentioned one you can rent...

So if anyone has come across or comes across anything like this over the coming months then let me know.. thanks.

Psi if you think this should not be here...can you give it a few days and move it to the right place... thanks

Oh here is a link i am getting a lot of ideas from http://www.tourismresources.ie/cht/unique.html
Killaghy Castle looks perfect... like i said im looking for the less well known one so i have more of a choice. I would love to scare the crap out of the americans :D

my brother works in Beleek Castle, in Ballina, Co Mayo.

after a quick Google i found these photos.

    there website is http://www.belleekcastle.com/
the Castle Armoury exhibiting the finest collection of 16th century armoury housed in Ireland. You may view and handle two handed Combat Swords from the Middle Ages, Great Helms, Crossbows, Chain Mail, Jousting and Tournament Armour from the Knights of old.

the armoury is supposed to be really cool & 1 of the bedrooms are supposed to be haunted.

not sure about the cost though it could be

    Hi, apologies, never saw this.

I dont think he said it was available to rent, he knows of one we *might* be able to get into for an investigation, but not to rent.

For practical reasons Killaghy looks the best. Maybe there is something there...
