[iPod] Problem charging

    Okay, I hope somebody can help.

    I have my iPod about nine / ten months. I play it a LOT.

    It was sitting in the cradle playing through its speakers this morning and was working fine. I took it out of the cradle to bring it to the car and when I got to the car it wouldn't switch on. I thought maybe it needed charging - I tried the cigarette lighter charger in the car but that didn't seem to work so as soon as I got home I tried its normal charger. It's been plugged in for the last six hours but still won't turn on.

    I'm not technical savvy - is there something obvious that I should do to fix this? Will I have to go back to the shop I bought it in? Any help much appreciated.
