Celtic Poker Tour Final

My mates in fairness to them won tickets to the Celtic poker tour final , with a €500 ticket and €50 reg on the night ... As we assumed these tickets were exclusive to stt winners and celtic venue winners... with the amount of tournies that they have it looked good value and should have been a good value game with a 100k minimum prizepool... Oh HOW WE WERE WRONG

Just looked at the website and they have changed the game to a rebuy tournie , €550 ENTRY , With 1 rebuy €200 and one top up €200 ..

How can u be expected to pay nearly €1000 including a rebuy and a top up with no dealers and the players who have won the tickets all think it is a freezeout ... The Bus has to stop somewhere with this creaming off the top they already have 134 tickets in and they have decided that they are selling tickets aswell ... With the game on in september they shold hit the 200 mark and it is the most expensive rebuy game with no dealers i have ever seen in my life....

Just looking for opinions on this and see if anyone actually one one of these so called "GOLDEN TICKETS"

I don't see anything wrong with selling tickets for this too, only increases the prize pool. Rebuys though when that was not advertised? Also not having dealers for this game is a jopke.

The more I hear about the CPT the less I want to attend any of their events.

will take well over 50k if they get the 200players. No offense, but that sh&&te was expected. The only way to make a statement is for all the "gold tix" winners to demand full payout minus general expenses or all of you cause a cause a roux. All of you have to be unified to overcome the injustice.

Yeah true there is nothing wrong with selling tickets but when u announce it is a winners only event and that the "only way u can get your hands on a final ticket is by winning a stt or winning a tour event " Yeah i aint stirrin **** here i am just tryin to get my head around it as 3 of my friends all have tickets . One of them is playin in the main event and the other a well known poker player ... He just rang me and said he will be looking for his money bck on the ticket ....

can they do this especially as it was advertised as a freezeout. This type of thing could ruin the poker freedom in this country for everyone:mad:

Now that they have increased the entry by 80% with the rebuys, is the minimum prize pool going to be 180k. If they try to pull off a 100k pool i'd not be surprized if it was the end of anysort of turn out for their games.

I played one of the big events, 300+ players at 150e to 200e spend and they paid out less than 25k. They will try and succeed, because no one will step up.

I don't think we should refer to them as the Celtic Poker Tour anymore as the less advertising these monkeys get the better IMO.From now on I will be calling these monkeys "The Circus Poker Tour".

Celtic Poker tour is a rip off no joking around. Went to them a few times sh!t the way they have no dealers cause if you make a mistake or that no dealers to point of the fact. Anyways I was saying went to them a few times and the guys that do give out the chips I mean if you rebuy or something or if you dont rebuy and get a top up I noticed guys giving extra chips to people that know. Im not joking around id stay well away from them! I know your gonna say its impossible because there is a certain number of chips but ive seen it done!

We've been on about them for months here on boards, normally someone springs to their defence, but even they are getting thin on the ground now.
Do a search for 'Celtic Poker Tour' to se how popular they are.

Nice to see you find another 'smiley' Anthony, I was beginning to think you only had :D in your repetoire.

That is a complete joke. How do they think they can suddenly change it from a 550e freezeout to a rebuy tourney!! Its typical of them cowboys and by the looks of it, they will get away with it.
The worst thing is that not one of us can do a dame thing about it. They've more than made their money already. This latest scam is just the icing on the cake.
The sooner the general public wise up to their antics the better, for the sake of decently run poker events!

Sick to the teeth of Circus poker pri**s.

I just heard BetFair are going to sponsor the CPT. Any1 know anything about this.

Somthing is on the cards alright, I can't confirm it's betfair but I can confirm that some online room will be giving them full sponsorship for tables and the works.

I wonder what betfair would think if they actually visited a tourney, actually I doubt they even care, all they care about is rake!

Pokerevents should have a look at cpt territory imo ;)

I tried to figure that out when I asked a few players who have been playing poker quite a while why they play on the CPT. The answer is that they don't actually feel like they are being ripped off. As long as there is a jackpot they don't care. The don't mind that the organisers are making a ridiciculous proft as long as they have to chance at winning a lot of money. What's amazing is they don't care if that amount of money is 10K when it should be 16K.

Of course this just another way of saying they are idiots.

Herd the Boyle's are about to be taken over by willhill. Possibility as they have recently taken over stanley bet and there expansion strategy seem to be predominantly takeovers.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,124 ✭✭✭NickyOD

A report from a player at my cardroom who went to the silver springs in Cork last week. €100+10 freezeout run by CPT. 156 runners. €10K paid out. I'll let you do the math.

from what i hear its nothing to do with boyle connection at all and could be a different crowd altogether ;)

 was my first cpt event on sunday in the silver springs ..156 runners......€12500 prize fund..€10000 cash pay out ...€4000 1st prize ........the €2500 apparently went towards grand final, royal flush bonus etc. this info wasnt volunteered as i asked a regular what the game was.......where did the rest of the money from the 156 entries go......they didnt even do chip races .....they rounded up ....in a freezeout .......no display of average stacks or players remaining or breakdown of the pot.......i'm not surprised though...what can u expect from the guys who announce a grand final with a €500 buy in then announce it will be a rebuy tourney with the infamous "top up" most likely twice the starting stack ..and whats with the prize foe the most outrageous costume(as announced on their website) is it a feckin fancy dress ( i suppose nicnic will wear the pink again)or a bloody poker tourney......i'd be worried if were these guys about the numbers they'll get next "season" if they insist on proceeding this way cos the rest of the poker crews will catch up

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 66 ✭✭Butternutz

Im from waterford and played in the freeze out on sunday in cork a complete joke of a tournament, will not ever play one again.I think it is an insult to ask any poker player to fork out €110 to deal yourself and only play for a portion of the pot.
I regularly play tournaments with Big slick in tramore, they do a €50 freezout and €10 reg with dealers at all tables and payout everything, its in aid of a €200 game in september. Thats what i consider value

Why would they stop - if they're still pulling the the punters and going from strength to strength, rather than losing business?

Why would a publican who raised the price of his pint to €4.50, in a world where people are used to paying €3.50 a pint, reduce it if he still can get the idiots in each and every week?

Ireland is famous for its consumers not giving a damn (beyond a quick whinge at home or to their friends) about the prices they pay, willing to pay over the odds without complaining.

Eddie Hobbs isn't above a bit of 'risque' type promotion himself .... Cape Verde Islands Property/Brother in Law/Fantastic Investment type stuff.

If he put a bucket of salt in every pint you think the drinkers would start puking right??

What vexes me most about these guys is I have a very strong feelin that poker doesnt real mean that much to them. Its only a vent to line their wallets. The fact that these guys lack any passion for the game (their TD rulings in situations when they first kicked off leans them towards Donkville) and they are taking such INSANE amounts of money from people playin this game.

They blatently ignore any standard rules of prizepool payouts (WTF is the €10 reg for anyway!!) and all they can say is "Ah overheads, and we give away tables " etc. I mean they have an underlyin slimeness about themselves that just is so so wrong.

I just read they have a "royal flush jackpot" they take money from the prizepool for LOL chancers

They need to be more involved with other poker organisations in Ireland and stoppped being allowed do as they like how they like when they like....they didnt invent Tournament Poker even if they believe they did

They are living the dream, my man, lots of cash, fairly limited risk (they'd probably cancel an event rather than get too screwed with their '€10,000 guaranteed prize pool' promise), eager punters lining up for more and more.

It has always been my dream to build a business selling useless crap to idiots with too much money (such as expensive cars or home furnishings or the like) - these guys don't seem so different! I agree there is a slimy undercurrent...they need to hire a PR consultant to solve that little problem!

We need to be careful about what is said about a company in public. Specifically *I* need to be careful but I can tell you this, I very much doubt that all is well in the land of CPT. Lets see how the summer pans out...

To be honest it would be a good move on betfairs part as the boys do get the numbers and have a database which covers the country up and down and with a company like that that would be an good marketing ploy to gain all those players ....

I am not here to slate Celtic as i know the lads and have played in their events a few times and they always give our club a plug in carlow to be fair,I was only bothered by the final which i was actually trying to win a ticket to....

To be fair the lads were first in to put this type of tournament around the country and have gained a huge following to all their events and you will reguraly see some familar faces at their events ...

I am only dissappointed as the €500 game would have been great value with 100k prizepool and it would have been a great value game even if u were dealing yourself i just think rebuyin is to much for it....

To be fair every other tournament organiser, CPT are the only ones who still rip off the general poker public.

I had a ticket and gave it back on sunday due to other commitments on the weekend its running. Don't think the €200 rebuy is a bad thing for the better players who have tickets. I think celtic could come under the microscope of the press for this tournament and need to be transparent with the payout.

I came forth of approx 150 in there tournament in enniscorthy on sunday and won a tin of biscuts :)

LMAO, although I assume you're taking the piss!

Do they still have the "highest lady finisher" award? What sort of a disrespectful joke is that. I'd hate to have to be the person to award that prize to someone like Collette Doherty, considering she's capable of destroying most guys she plays against.
