SIS Horse Racing Feeds

    Hi,

    Does anyone know what the costs are like for SIS horse racing feeds and how amny seconds are the pictures ahead of Sky's channels coverage?

    Aint that just for commercial use and a few thousand a month. Like the price of Sky in pubs.

    As already mentioned , SIS is only designed as a service for bookmakers. These days it is broadcast digitally from Sirius 5 East (a 1.2 metre dish is recommended in Ireland, though you'd probably get away with a 1m or even 80cm on the east coast). When I used to help out in a bookmakers run by an uncle a few years ago, it was broadcast from Intelsat 27.5 West using B-MAC encryption, which was a fairly specialised piece of equiptment - a modified television had to be used to view their text service, a normal picture could be connected from the decoder to the scart socket of a normal TV to view the picture, but the text would be scrambled. These days its scrambled in PowerVu - and no there are no hacks (which if was questioned any further would see this thread closed), so you'll have to get your fix from elsewhere.
