[iPod] setup for car - don't know where to start

firstly, any help on this is very much appreciated - please excuse my general ignorance of all things technical.

i have an ipod photo and simply want to hook it up so's i can play it in my car through the car speakers. car is an opel corsa and is currently equipped with just the stock radio that was in it when manufactured. i wouoldn't mind getting a decent cd player as well although its not a neccessity. from what i gather i can buy a cd player and once it has an input i can play my ipod through it....yes/no?

i've had a look around caraudio.ie but there's so much to choose from i don't know where to start (or what exactly i need). price isn't really a concern. i want something with decent sound quality.

something that charges my ipod in the car would also be great and anything that makes changing tracks, volume, etc easier (eg. some sort of mount on the dash or steering wheel) would be ideal too.

if anyone can recommend me what to get i'd appreciate it. also, is it hard to install the cd player and any ipod gear i might need myself or would i have to get someone who knows what they're at to do it for me?

They have them in Spectra (Dundrum) if you arent an Ebay person, alot more expensive though;)

They sell them in halfords for about 120e There is a cradle that gets mounted on the dashboard and when you dock the Ipod it gets charged and you tune your radio to the preset station and away you go.

The quality is perfect. Ive used the itrip wireless unit also and the quality was patchy poor.

thanks for the links lads, i'll definately check those out. however, i've read that sound quality is better with a direct input into the cd player instead of through a transmitter. is this correct and if so any recomendations on something to that effect?

Halfords also do the icelink plus which is a direct input. When I checked a couple of weeks ago it was about 190 euro plus 60 euro for fitting. The good thing is that you can use your radio controls to control the IPOD or use the IPOD controls. If you have a multi function steering wheel you can also use that. But it will be specific for the make and model of your car so you won't be able to take it with you when you change your car.
They also say they will be doing the Harmon Kardon drive and play soon.

I found another couple of solutions on the web when I was looking, just google IPOD CAR, but these two were the only ones that I could find that you could get here. I am sure the others are fine but I was worried that I would get one that was not compatible and would have no come back.

I recently bought that head unit from Halfords. Have a read of the link. I can't fault the head unit at all. It has everything you need, it will charge your ipod, once the ipod is connected you don't need to touch the ipod again, you change songs by using the head unit. Highly recommended
