Glute ham raises - excellent

Anyone doing these? I have just started after "because_I_can" recommended them and showed how they could be done with just a chin up bar and a cushion i.e no expensive or fancy machines needed

Even though i'm not sure if I'm doing them 100% right or if I'm doing doing a full ROM I have found them excellent for leg strength. Have added a few kgs to my sumo deadlift. My pull off the floor is definitely better thanks to the glute ham raises. Now, the lockout has become my sticking point in deadlifts whereas before getting the bar off the floor was my usual sticking point.

I think they're great but i can only manage a controlled negative rep rather than the full ROM:o

    Yeah they're great :D

@tribulus: that just means you have more potential to make gains from them :)

    Just spotted this now.
Glad to help, did i post that on the other site? I was using that place to post any little things i've found to help me with power and speed. Got booted off then for saying whats crap and whats not. Ah well, just have to keep all the good stuff to myself now.

Anyways, glad to hear you've started glute hams using the argos bar. One of those benchs costs over €1000 so i was dead chuffed to get the bar to work.

a glute ham is simple enough. Just lock the heels of your runners under the bar and the bend at the knees as far as you can go keeping your back straight. Be careful you dont strain the back of your knee doing this. Its a common injury in sldl and glutehams.

Ideally this should be your starting position

    and this the finishing

but its very hard to do this. Work up to it and make sure you warmup well

    good luck

You could sneak back on under a different log in and start posting again.... i know a few guys who have done that on other boards. :D

To be honest, sneaking back on under a different name and hoping no one would notice was never going to work, you do realise that though, right???

I don't see the need to have done, but if it makes you more comfortable then so be it.

Really??? All i remember is a name change, and avatar change, not announcing your return and also telling me that you would not be back, despite my asking you to do so after i lifted the barring on your old account.

To be honest, i don't give a s**t , in a weird way it's nice to have your input again.

Oh yeah, replied to your savings question btw, the option i give is very much worth looking into, good returns over the term you are looking at. :D

I'm just stating my point is all. You seemed to have no problem implying that you were wronged somehow on my board in this thread, so this is where i assume you want me to reply to it.

All in all, it is nice to have your input back. Like i said, your one of the few Oly lifters that i know and it's always nice to get an Oly lifters spin on things.
