I use one a particular piece of software that will allow you to reset passwords but not retrieve them.

As lazygit said, what exactly are you trying to do?

Logon to the system as the administrator and Reset the permissions.
    you do this by
    1) at the login screen - press ctrl-alt-del so a user logon box appears instead of the list of users (this might not be correct as every version of windows differs a bit)
    2) username 'Administrator' password - whatever it is set to - maybe empty or 'password' depending on what was choosen at set up.
    3) go to the folder and either copy all the stuff into a different folder or delete the password on the folder.

Hope this helps, I know its kinda general and not very specific but it something.....

Oh right - my software was only for resetting XP login passwords.

    Nevermind then.
