Yes and Yes, beware of Ryanair sometimes they dont give you the tax back which they are obliged to do.

Only refunds before you have flown though...

Unless a member of your family dies, for which you must prove, then no. You can change the name on the ticket for €65.

That's Ryanair anyway, doubt there's much difference for Aer Lingus.

    Conflicting opinions...

I checked it up. Ryanair may refund Government taxes for an unused flight, but other fares are non-refundable.

    bolax...

This is for flights that are a few months away, not flights that were just unusued... still the same ?

Sadly yes. Both Ryanair and Aer Lingus have a strict no refund policy.

In that case, I have just wasted 400 euro =/

You might be able to use them on another date (if thats the problem), but will have to pay the difference, instead of doing nothing with the money. No refunds Im afraid :(

It may be worth investigating getting the taxes/charges refunded. I believe Aer Lingus have a similar policy.

flight from Dublin to Valencia on 19th July, flight from Madrid - Dublin on 25th.

Aer lingus are a joke, they will refund the TAX only but there is a "tax refund administration charge" of 15 euro. HAH

Yeah I suppose im gonna have to try sell them...The ryanair one, the name/date/destination ETC can be changed so I could sell that for half price fairly easily Id say...

Often times the refund is less than the admin charges so it may be pointless claiming back the taxes.

    Hi

If you have travel insurance you might get a refund from them, I know I did a while back but you need to have a good reason or make up a goos story.

    Regards

    will travel insurance cover it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 288 ✭✭hepcat

Travel insurance will only cover if you took it out at the time of booking or before, you can't buy travel insurance now and use it to cover cancellation. Travel insurance only covers for certain reasons too, and if it is illness / operation due to pre-exisinting condition which you did not advise of at the time of taking out the policy, then you won't be covered.

    Why are you cancelling?

Actually stumbled across this whilst holding on the phone to Aer Arann.

NEVER have I come across a more amateur bunch.

they have chnaged the flight times slightly 4 times since I booked and won't give a refund. Now when I want to travel on an alternate day the prices for the two flights has gone up 80 euro and to change the names on the flights is 60 eiro and it's another 40 euro to change the flights.

And how much was this amazing deal that I received from Aer arann in the firstplace for a return trip from to Luton

    220 Euro.

So now the entire round trip for 2 people will cost almost 400 euro

    NO refund given
