34 yrs old, training twice a week in Bjj for past 9 months
Had my appendix removed last week and now may need hernia op.:(

Normally it is recommended not to resume contact sport for 4 to 6 weeks after such a procedure bt there is more chance of the old entrails getting stacked or knelt on in bjj and I have been advised to take at least a few months off or to quit outright!

Anyone here recovered from same or similar and now back training? Im not quite ready to pack it in yet:mad:

Was born with a Hernia and had op to fix it when I was 8. Have done martial arts all my life, bjj for the past 2 years. Never had a problem in the slightest. Would advise a good 3 month recovery period. So what if you're 34???? you're in the prime of your life man!!!!!

its all about the priorities if you love the game you will find a way to do it. Dont rush your recover but always be aware that others have overcome greater hardships.

That kyle guy is an inspiration.

Interesting to note that one of the greatest BJJers on the planet has no fingers on his left hand.

I was listening to a healthy 26 year old bitch about an ankle sprain they sustained about 3 years ago that still gets "a little stiff" from time to time and keeps them from training the other week, and I actually thought of that guy and what he's achieved.

Next time I'm a little tired on the couch, I think I'll think of him then too!

    Hey Fella

Had a hernia op 5 years ago, when I was 23, took 3 months off, any kinda exercise, but it has been fine since and really 3 months aint that much, just ease yourself back into it.

Any yep aint ever going to complain about anything and reading that Kyles web site, top courage and conviction out of that guy

Thanks for the advice guys , was a bit down yesterday as i'm an impatient patient:confused:
(Having to get the wife to put my socks on just seemed so far from throwin an oul triangle on someone)
A couple of months should make a huge difference, then I'll be back to try out all the moves I'm gonna find on the net in the meantime :)
