    Hi all,
Moved into new house, All that is available is NTL MMDS so I am getting the digital package, with an extra box as I need to be able view the digital in two rooms.
    Am based in Galway city.
I assume that I will be able to view the "basic package" channels in rooms without a seperate receiver but need the receiver in rooms that I want to be able view the digital content?

Okay, NTL have told me that an engineer will be around Friday to do whatever work needs to be done (should be striaght forward as the arial is already up and the house has points for TV in a number of rooms)
The only thing is they werent able to give me a time or even an estimate of the time that the engineer will call on Friday. I work about 20 minutes walk from the house so am sure I can get there is given 20-30 minutes notice before the engineer gets there. However on the phone NTL told me I may not even get that much notice. I dont think I will be able to get anyone in the house for the full day so I am relying on the engineer giving me notice.
Has anyone had this problem before and does the engineer give any notice-or can I get the number of the engineer so that I can explain myself what the situation is as they do not seem to want to commit to anything in sales.

No, NTL's MMDS system is all digital, that means you need a digital receiver in each room that you want to watch any TV on.

They won't give you any warning as to when the engineer will arrive, other then before lunch or after. NTL engineers have a very nasty habit of ring the door bell once and almost immediately leave, they don't make any effort to make sure your home, the reason is that they have loads of visits scheduled every day and they have very little time at each house, so if they say no one was home they can save some time.

You probably going to have to take a half day.

Alternatively you could just get Sky, and get a local installer to do it, who would probably be more flexible.

Feck. That may be a problem as I only ordered two receivers.
I'd ideally like TV in another two rooms also.
    Ah well.
Will have to see if something can be figured out.

Well before they come you can call and ask them to deliver another two boxes, it isn't a problem they always have lots with them. However of course you'll need to pay extra.

An alternative would be to use one of those wireless TV senders to send the output of the receiver to the other TV's. Of course that will mean the other TV would have to have the same channel on it.

You could use video senders to view in other rooms, but you will have to view the same channel but you can change the channel via the sender!!
