Anyone else out there bored out of their bean of the game Oblivion?

Honestly I was enjoying it initially but now 40 hours in the biggest challenge is staying awake.
Off I go on another Mages guild quest and low and behold it's another dungeon trawl just with harder opposition, and so it goes on.
Man, I thought this was better than Fable but at least that had a strong narrative, Oblivion is just too, well, vague, lots of wandering, couldn't be a thief as all my feckin' picks kept breaking, tried the gladiatorial scene but got whooped up and down the garden, only the Fighters guild remains, may give it a lash but so many more worthy games await playing, Dragonquest, KOTOR2 and Resi 4 to name just a few.

Anyone else feel the same or is it just me?

Do the daedric sidequest for an unbreakable lockpick. Makes the thieves guild a lot easier. Fighters guild is easy enough. I'm still enjoying it though after about 40 hours of gameplay. It can get a bit repetitive though I agree

Once you get the hang of the lock picks it easy.
All you have to do is time it.
Lift up the chamber, but don't press the button.
Keep doing this until the chamber slides down straight away after being lifted.
Once this happens, lift the chamber again and lock it this time by pressing the button.
    Works 90% of the time.

The secret to keep the game interesting is to alternate the quests.
Do a few thieves guild missions, then mages, then main storyline and so on.
    it keeps the game fresh.
My advice is not to try the Arena until you're around level 10-15, and definitely don't fight the grey prince!
If you want an interesting set of missions, just kill an innocent person.
Go to an inn, or one of your houses and fall asleep. Lucien from the murderers guild will come to you, and you can join them.
I completed(100% the main mission, and all the side missions!) the game after about 100 hours of game-play and it kept me interested the whole way!;)

How do you do them?? That would be SO helpful!

The way I use to go about picking locks at the start is to do a quick save just before I picked the lock and, if the lockpick broke, re-load. That way I never lost a single lockpick! Does get easier though.

I haven't played it for a few weeks and like you I was about 40hrs through. I have a couple of other games to finish (nearly there with Oddworld SW) and once they are I'll finish off the main quest in Oblivion. Probably won't bother with any more sidequests though.

Haven't played it in weeks, was about 70 hrs in with just the thieves guild missions to finish.
Probably would have played more but the disc was slightly scratched and because of this, loading times went through the roof (30 secs everytime you open a chest etc...).

You got whooped in the gladiator part, thats the easiest part surely!

im only 10 hours of play in , started in the arena and found it quite easy. again if ur stuck the trick is in the saving, if ur mid way through a good round you can save your progress, if you die, reload.

The only other thing I can say about the arena is to block all the time and attack after the opposition has struck. Also you can stun players by either defending a power attack or hitting them with a power attack, I dont remember which one it is.

Either way im not master , as im only 4/5 fights in. but block and attack after thier attack is my best advice.

Related to it being repetative I can see that being possible, I really dont enjoy walking from x to y. But the quests are different enough and the story is quite strong to keep me interested. I cant promise how long that will last thou.
