    Hi all,

Im just finished my final year in college and so the pleasures of job hunting must begin. I will be looking for a job in the IT sector by using the various websites advertising jobs.

My question is do employers prefer applicants to apply by phone or to apply by email when a preference for either method is not stated?

    Thanks

I don't know how is it done in Ireland, but i think you should first make your CV, send it via e-mail, regular mail or submit it yourself, after that do some tracking calling by phone, ask if they have reviewed your CV, don't annoy them just show that you are really interested.

I agree, sent the CV by email and then follow up with a phone call.

Send your CV by e-mail (or post with a covering Letter) or apply via recruitment agencies. I think you get further by sending out slightly fewer modified CV's and Covering Letters than blanket bombing companies with generic stuff.

If I am following up on an application I prefer to do so via phone unless there are specific details that could get mixed up being sent.
