have my 360 set up via the xbox 360 wireless adaptor and also have that router and eircom as an isp .

i'll have a look at my settings and post them up .

i have the router set to give out 3 ip#s ( pc, laptop and 360 ) , seen as your seeing the wireless network i'll skip what i was going to say about the router and will go to the xbox 360 settings .

in basic settings it's set as follows :

    1) ip set to automatic
    2) dns set to automatic
    3) wireless mode 802.11g
    4) network name ( same as in router )
    5) security = wep with same key as on router

if your going to take it onto live set you router firewall to low and in the nat you can open the ports for the 360 from the pre-set list and just set the ip addy to the 360's ip addy.

    Clover,

Could I ask some questions in relation to your post. I've just bought an adaptor and same set up as the op.

    You mentioned

i have the router set to give out 3 ip#s ( pc, laptop and 360 ) - how do I sent this up?

In relation to the other points you mentioned 1-4 are fine. How do I ensure that the wep is with same key as on router?

How do I access the firewall settings on the router? I've had a look and couldn't find it anywhere. Finally how do I go about setting the ip addy to the 360's ip addy?

These are probaby straight forward questions, but it's an area I know very little about.

    Thanks for your help
    Conor

PS Anthony feel free to share your knowledge :p

sorry about the delay in posting a reply conjon.

    1) in your router settings page in the left menu click on expert then click yes, press cofigure , then advanced , then dhcp server.

you will see dchp start and dchp end , if you have the last 3 digits of start at 101 and the last 3 digits of end set to 103 you are allowing the router to give out 3 ip addys. then save *.

    2) again in expert mode click wireless then advanced configeration options , i have in privecy " wep-manual " and have picked the key i want to use ( key 1 ) i have taken note of the key and entered that into the 360

    3) in basic mode in the left menu select firewall and then select low and scroll down to save changes.

    4) with the 360 on and getting it's ip addy from the router , go into the router settings page and click on custom services then click on " age of empires " and scroll down to " xbox live games " , click it and it takes you to another page with a choice of host device , click and pick the ip addy that the 360 is getting from the router.

    * you will have to restart the router when you change some of the settings.
