€500 freezeout last friday, super satelite for the IPT.

At the 2nd break i have 51k, the average is 16k and im close to , if not in the chip lead.
The only hands id shown down were AA and JJ, and i would have a tight image.

A LAG had joined the table, he was playing most hands, and was a very good reader and player post flop. He bet people off a lot of pots, and was building his stack nicely. He had about 40k, and i was wary of him.

I ran AA in AQ that flopped a str8, then lost another pot, and perhaps people mighta thought i was steaming a bit, i still had 34k when the following hand occured.

I picked up TT in the cut off, the LAG was in the BB. (this same player i took out of last months fitz 270 game, when i called my stack with KJ on a J high paired board vs his flush draw). He constantly puts people to the test.

I was wary of playing TT vs him, as i expected him to call, and baring flopping a set, i knew it could get messy.
Anyway, i made it 4k to go (blinds 500/1000), he called. (9500, there was one limper who then folded).

Flop comes JQ7 with 2 diamonds. He checked, i bet 7k, he thinks for a while and calls.

Turn comes a King. (3 overs to my TT), he checks.
I have an up and down str8 draw, and decided to check. (i felt if i bet without commiting myself, he would set me in).
River is a blank, and he bets 14k. Pot is now 37k, if i call i have about 6k behind, which would leave me crippled.
If i fold i have 20k, just under average at this point, still playable.
If i call and win i have 57k, back near the lead.

    I decide to pass.

Comments on all aspects of this please.

I think I would have just checked the flop and folded to a turn bet. You might be ahead, but as you say he's the sort of player that will put you to the test, and you very easily could be answering a question for all your chips, knowing you can't call. It's a terrible board for TT.

Push turn or check flop, Your line looks exactly what it is, a underpair. Its hard for him to call on the turn without a good hand, and even if you are called you have outs. As played id probably fold the river but im not sure.

3 things i think now, after reflection,
knowing this guy is good and would pass most hands, but would call and try and outplay me post flop, i shoulda pushed pre flop.

after he called my flop bet, a push on the turn woulda looked very strong, especially when the K came, he mighta needed AT or a set to call me.

his bet on the end was enough to leave me crippled if i called, and he knew this. It was screaming dont call at me, there were 2 diamonds and possible missed str8s on the board, he knew i was tight, most likely if he calls me on the flop its with a Q or J, would he value bet this 14k on the end ?

I think i shoulda called, i folded, bottled it, he said, u had none of that right, i said, i had some, he said he had 78 !!

Oh yeah I remember this. I was in seat 9, the chap that went allin for 2*your lead when I flopped a str8 to crack your aces, very ul.

The LAG in question definitely had a piece of this flop though. As you two where the big stacks at the table he would never call your raise with 78. Yes he was extremely loose but would never get involved with you as he was aware that you could cripple him. There was a few rocks at that table and it was far easy to build your stack on steals. I just got moved there and it was clear he was being table captain.
He seemed to pause after you made your continuation bet and this gives more credence that he was holding a monster. After the flop comes down I'm thinking KQ,AQ even JQ. IMO it was a good fold.

BTW it was only a matter of time before the LAG exited. He didn't know when to change gears with the big stack,he kept trying to outplay everyone post flop and it was costing him a high % of his stack each time.

It was good to put a face to the name as I read your blog occasionally.
