I came across this while reading the paper today and found the website promoting the statue. Yes, someone has actually made a statue representing Brit giving birth to her son. No she did not commission this and no she is not going to buy this. Now, personally, I could give a rat's a*se about Brit and her life but I cannot get over how invading this would be. I am pregnant and my husband isn't allowed even a mobile phone that takes pics into the delivery room! Now imagine some guy who's never met you makes a naked statue of you in the one moment in time you really don't want preserved or broadcasted!

Is it just me or is this seriously over the top?

Natural aspects of Spears’ pregnancy, like lactiferous breasts and protruding naval, compliment a posterior view that depicts widened hips for birthing and reveals the crowning of baby Sean’s head.

I notice they did take any pictures of the statue from the business end!

Did she give birth in the woods... why is she grabbling a bears head?

That doesn't seem to be the ideal "giving birth" position either; though I don't actually know.

Apparently she's at home, on a bearskin rug on the floor... tbh honest I imagine that might be how the baby was conceived, but I agree, it doesn't seem the ideal position for giving birth....

Ladies out there know any different?

Actually giving birth on all fours is one of the easiest and most natural positions. It was only in the last 200-300 years that woman were encouraged to start giving birth on their backs. This was to facilitate the doctors in their assessment exams and is actually one of the worst ways to deliver. As you might imagine, the doctors back then were all male ;)

What's the rationale for that? The telephone might interfere with medical equipment? How about a common or garden camera?

I think the idea is more to prevent people who have no business seeing it doing so more than any concern about interfering with the equipment.

Well good to see someone can appreciate why i won't...to be honest, I am not afraid of the birth nor is it something that grosses me out but do I need to relive it as a Kodak moment..uhm no.

In addition, Hobbes, really never needed to see that ever

Maybe if you are Katie Holmes....heard she was supposed to be silent during the birth....sure another man's suggestion.

looks painful that....is it just me that finds the pro life statue on a dead bear a bit of a contradiction?

I think that statue is beautiful and she should count herself as being lucky having it in her sitting room...

    God no.

According to my Better Half, who apparently knows these sort of things, the kid was actually born by cesaerian section, so the statue is something of a bit of artistic license.

No, she doesn't. In fact, in the paper, they quoted her saying how funny it was and why anybody would want to make it made no sense to her. I have to say I would not find the funny side of it.

Oh and yeah...I do find the contradiciton of the pro-life sentiments on the DEAD bear quite amusing. It's ok to kill one living creature but not the other because it will walk & talk one day. God love humans...we are so egotistical!
