ok, so im off on my J1 on tuesday, but i can't find my isic card. now usit say you need it for going there, but i can't see immigration checking a travel card, when they will have my passport/visa. so im wondering if anyone else who has been on the J1 can remember if they were asked to show it.

if not, it saves me having to go to dublin and get a replacement card.

I wasn't asked for it. It's just another form of I.D. Your passport will do.

You definetly don't need your ISIC card to go - USIT just make you buy one, supposedly to get you a "cheap student flight", but in reality they make no difference at all.

They come in handy for student discounts sometimes, but your college ID will probably work and even if it doesn't, you're only missing out on a 1-2% discount.

They can be useful, but you definetly wont need one for getting on your flight, and you wont need it for ID either, since they're easily faked and wont be accepted as proper ID anywhere.
