Digital TV in other room with no Digibox...Help!

Maybe the thread title is a bit unclear but I want to watch digital in my room which has no digibox. I was wondering what my options are for running the signal into the tv in my room from either my parent's digibox or the one from downstairs?

Preferably I would like no wires involved. I don't know if this is possible but I've seen those infra red thingys you can put on top of the tv to receive the signal from the other box?

I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction for setting something like this up. We have 3 digiboxes operating at home so I don't think the satellite (lnb) or something like that can take another one if I were to put it into my room anyway!

    Thanks for any help guys.

Well if one of the digiboxes is not a sky plus box,you could simply wire in a 4th digibox from the lnb on the dish assuming you have a quad lnb on it.
If you dont you can get one (see the sticky on where) or get a local installer to do this for you.

The gadget you want other than that is a videosender.
Theres a decent one on the website of peats of parnel street.

Hmm, firstly thanks for the response.

If I were to wire a new digibox to the satellite and bring it directly down to my room would I have to pay for a new subscription etc. and would it be a big job to you know? I think the infra red option might be more straightforward.

If I were you I'd just run some co-ax from the digibox that is used least to your tv. get a magic eye and then you could use the remote. Easy and cheap, and no messing with new subscriptions.

Excuse my ignorance, but is a co-ax a cable that would have to be run from the other room into my tv? I don't know if this would work as it would be extremely awkward. Do the infrared yokes transmit the actual signal into the other room or merely allow you to change cannel?

    Thanks

The video sender is your best option. No wires, no work. Plug in and away you go.
Check before you buy it, though most do allow to change channel along with sending video.

Video sender. OK, so this plugs into the digibox downstairs and I put some receiver on my TV in my room. Can only some models allow you to change the channel in the other room then? Also, my tv in my room is nothing special, just a portable Mitsubishi. Will this matter for connecting the video sender?

    Thanks guys

as long as your tv has got scart or RGB yours Laughin, and yes you can control the digibox as well, but remember if they are using the digibox downstairs then you will have to watch what their watchin

    Ok, that's brilliant.

Gets my vote for most helpful forum ever.
One more thing, can anyone recommend a good one to get and what sort of price range are we talking? Does it matter that the digibox is downstairs, i.e. will the signal be weak or anything?

I looked in Maplin in Limerick and while the guy was helpful, they were dearer than I thought. There were ones for €40-70 but most of these were just either senders OR receivers, you needed a set of 2. Any full complete set in a box was €120+

So I went into Argos and bought the cheapest one they had, expecting to have to bring it back! Lo and behold it works perfectly, absolutely top class picture. Now I have it somehow (I can hardly remember how) coming from my VHS (sky is plugged into that) and the only thing is, surprisingly, I cant transfer the a video tape playing. I think I should be able to, as its on the video channel.

Thats the only thing, and maybe I have it set up wrong. But other than that, Sky is perfect.

Then go to Lidl and get one of the universal remotes for €6.99 and it will act as a Sky remote!

The video sender in Argos is the cheapest one they had, around €45.

    Good luck
