Just bought a Pace box here on boards)The black one-older model I think--bskyb--2500b it says on the back)--Brand new still in the box wrapped up never used.
Plugged it in and it was working fine but the epg wsnt showing CH4/ITV etc so I decided to force an update since I thought that that might update the channel listing.
Update seemed to work fine but now I have a problem.
To cut a long story short it now wont come out of standby ie red led wont turn to a green one and the unit wont switch on--Any ideas??
Could I have fecked the box up by forcing an update??
Is there a way to do a "factory" reset on the box?
    Thanks
    Richie

From my days in IT tech support:

Have you plugged it out and plugged it back in again?

    Its 99% banjaxed then.

Forcing an update is never a good idea, they usually come down after a day or two if not the first night its left plugged in to the mains and the satellite connection.

Is there a factory reset dodah anywhere on your model at all? If not I'd say you're fairly screwed.

Im sure one of the guys who run Sat shops might be able to point me in the right direction for a repair.

www.pacelink.co.uk - if it can be repaired at all.

It almost certainly can't be economically repaired; a box that old is 20 sterling on eBay.

    Sounds like PSU.

These boxes are really too slow now for the current Sky SW. They also give trouble with Tuner (Seen this myself).

One version has a built in PSU and the the other 2500 series has a separate PSU board. (S and B series of 2500 I think).

I doubt it was never used if PSU has failed. These are what, 6 or 7 years old?

It was still wrapped up in the bag with everything all in sealed bags.Ive a feeling the forced update may have something to do with it.

Unlikely. And a box out of use/ that old needs a forced update to work at all. So many versions missed. I've never seen a broblem with forced updates. Try another forced update. If possible check with a different box that the coax/ LNB has a signal.

Also leave it plugged in. If some of the PSU capacitors are not working they may recover. It has a fuse so is unlikely to burn the house down.
