USB Key encryption

    How do I encypt my usb key so that I can use it on my home computer and work computer?

    Here's what I've done so far:

    1. formatted it as NTFS
    2. Setup a folder.
    3. Went to advanced properties
    4. Ticked encrypt folder

    Now the problem I have is that this has created an encryption key somewhere on my work hard drive. How can I set this up so that I can use it on my home PC as well?

    Hmm, not sure but maybe in a cmd prompt type
    cipher /r:mykey
    and follow the instructions. Then copy the two files created to the other PC and import the info from the .ppx file.

    This is how you backup your encryption keys in case your system crashes so I'd imagine it can be used to transfer keys to another PC.

    Have you Pro installed at home? Home IIRC doesn't support EFS.

    You need to add your home computer acc to the trusted users of the encripted folder.

    yep I've xp pro at home.

    So let me get this straight, I have to add my home account to the security tab in the folder properites and then encrypt the folder and backup the encryption key?
